Good Stuff!

Despite the fact that it was my aunt-in-law’s birthday last week, was my sister-in-law’s yesterday and is my darling husbands tomorrow, my girls seemed to walk away from last nights birthday extravaganza with a heck of a lot of loot! Understandable since we won’t be around for their birthday but still amazing none the less!

They are both in the throws of ’stuff is good’.. can’t quite decide what to play with first let alone next. I’d cleverly put the loot out of site last night and only left them their new dolls to play with when they got up this morning. It didn’t take too long for them to potter in to ask me to take this off or put this on one or other doll and then later to ask where the other ‘good stuff’ was.

So we got out the bags of loot and had a look see…. way too much good stuff!

The fishing game was a hit… they even managed to share it for the first 5 minutes which is a bit amazing, but just to reassure us it did descend into tears and grabbing shortly after that. I am actually surprised at how quickly and how well Izzy mastered the whole ‘dangle the magnet close enough to catch a fish’ thing… Zoe is still holding onto the magnet end and physically putting it on the fish she wants. They are both surprisingly good at putting the pieces back in the correct place on the puzzle. I say surprising because it was only last week that they were both struggle with the other puzzles they have.

The books have been read several times already. Meg and Mog’s Cauldron has barely been left alone all day. While making lunch I over heard this conversation…

Izzy - here is Mr snakey for you, just fresh from the pot!
zoe - hello Mr Snake, did you have a good sleep…. (pause as if listening to the response) that’s good, now it’s time for breakfast… said the man

And so it went on with all the creepy crawlies.

We hear a lot of ’said the man’s or ’said the cat’ or ’said Mia’ or ’said Zoe’. It’s as if they are narrating their own dramatic play as it happens… very funny.

I have had to dress and undress the dolls several times. As well as do their hair and find small cloth nappies for them. Despite my encouragement Izzy is still adamant that their names are Zoe and Izzy, while Zoe thinks hers should be called ‘baby Liam’…. I think I will have to work harder on that!

We took the boats and cars set up outside (after I convinced them it wouldn’t be a good idea to wear their new dress-ups outside) and they were entertained by that for a good half an hour while we shoveled horse poo. And now they are back inside doing their new puzzles with Daddy… well ok Daddy is doing the puzzles while they fight with each other.

Crazy stuff considering their birthday is still three weeks away, and then Christmas after that. But lucky for them that they have ever loving relatives to heap ‘good stuff’ on them since I am still yet to buy them a birthday present let alone Christmas!

Sounds like their birthday will continue for a few weeks! I’m a bit nervous about Em’s birthday, and being so close to Christmas as well…we’ll be away from home at my parent’s and DH’s families so I can imagine how much stuff we’re going to have to cart home!

Oh and I’ve tagged you :-) Thanks!
