Thanks to Dee over at Shhhh not so loud! She reminded me what day it was by also posting about ‘Grateful Friday’. Phew! In the lead up to Christmas I have no idea what day it us!
So today I am grateful…
For the rain….
It has rained buckets here the last two days. It started Wednesday evening – we had dinner out on the front veranda and watched some big thunder storms rumble all around us. They didn’t come over our house but it did rain and after dinner the girls put on their gumboots and had a dance in it, just lovely!
We’ve had some huge big down pours, enough to over flow the gutters and to fill the tanks. Enough to flood the shed and give me a good giggle while watching the Baldy Boy run around trying to fix the overflow wearing a garbage bag so as not to get wet. Enough so that I haven’t had to water the veggie garden and enough so that the veggies are growing almost as well as the weeds!
For being married to a wonderful person…
The Baldy boy finished work for the year after a big ‘team building day’ on Monday. Despite being on ‘holidays’ and wanting to have a ‘break’ before the madness of Christmas he has instead stepped up to some family obligations that probably are not the most fun events to be at, and certainly are not restful. He could have made excuses or side stepped these things or at the very least taken the easier options, but he hasn’t and I love him for it.
For having funny children…
Despite do-it-yourself haircuts and jam dipped grapes, my girls make me laugh.
I asked Izzy if she could stay and play with her brother while I got something for her. As I walked off, I heard her say;
“You are stuck with me now Muski… for the rest of your life!
Or at least until Mummy comes back”
For having every moment of every day with people who I love…
Tomorrow is the anniversary of my father-in-laws death. Two years. I had only just started blogging and going back to read those posts reminded me how so much has changed. I am sitting here, with a baby boy on my lap who will never know his Grampy, except as his namesake and through other peoples memories.
Life is so precious. The people you love are precious… even when people drive me nuts I am grateful that I know this.
