Everyone is sick in our house…. everyone, except me.
I don’t get sick. I haven’t got time to get sick. I am too busy rocking the snotty baby, pumping the Twinadoes full of ventolin, making sure the Baldy Boy really is drinking enough, putting on a new DVD, feeding the cranky baby, making Dr’s appointments, spending a small fortune at the chemist and getting up and down one hundred times in the night. There just isn’t any time for anything else, despite the fact that I have so many other things I wanted to get done this week!
Today there has been a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. The Baldy Boy is much improved, as is the cranky baby. The Twinadoes peaked yesterday afternoon and after filling them full of a cocktail of meds I think we will avoid a hospital visit this time. They are still cranky and wheezy and not eating (which is always a bad sign with my children) but I will be able to sleep tonight (in between waking to give ventolin that is) without wondering if or when we’ll have to rush off to the hospital. Not to mention trying to get my head around the logistics of such a midnight dash.
Do I take them both even if only one is bad enough for hospital, knowing that the other one is probably only a few hours behind? Do I take the baby or risk leaving him with the Baldy Boy? He is getting too old to sleep in the pram at the end of a hospital bed like her did when Zoe was admitted but he would scream blue murder for hours and hours if left at home without his own personal walking talking milk machine on demand 24/7 (that would be me!). When do I make the decision to go? It is at least a 40 minute trip and that is in the middle of the night and speeding. When do I decide it is ambulance and not car? These are the things that go through your mind at 3am while listening to your small children coughing up a lung, each.
So while I was going to work on my other blog (special surprise blog coming soon… well ok, not soon, but some day, eventually.), write some wonderfully witty and informative posts for this blog, work on the newsletter for PBP, put together my cards to send to my PIF winners, finish some of the organising of the girls bedroom, maybe even work on some new scrapping designs…. instead of doing all of that I have spent a fair bit of time on the couch, watching Ratatouille and Sleeping Beauty DVDs, holding hands, stroking foreheads, cramming spacers over mouths and noses, wiping snot and generally being a Mama. There is always next week for all those other things.

((hugs)) to you Kate! I know what you mean about not having time to get sick when everyone else is! Our sick week started last Friday night with our own 40 min drive to RCH for G who was choking on mucous :( A week later, everyone else well again, bar a few niggly coughs, it’s my turn to be sorry for myself. Keep up your Vit C! xx

Hope everything is okay. I have so been there.
Don’t you hate the second guessing?

Hugs.
