Holiday Snaps…

May 9, 2008

Ok here are a few holiday snaps for anyone who is interested….

Plane
The Twinadoes on their first plane ride. They did remarkably well, I thought the noise might freak them out but only once during take off did Zoe dig her nails into my arm in fear. Landing they laughed hysterically as we hit the ground and Izzy said loudly to all who would listen ‘We flew like a fairy….It’s a miracle’

We stayed right on the lake and spent a lot of time there and at the beach (the lake was one side of a small sand dune, the surf beach the other) doing this…
floating in the lake

and this…
floating

this…
splashing

and even a bit of this…
paddle

I also got to go snorkelling on my own… well with my best buddy, without any children but with a sea turtle or two!! Way cool Crush Dude!

No trip up that way is complete without a visit to ‘Tracy’s Zoo’ – because you know if you are small and someone you know and love works at Australia Zoo then by default she must own it too. Once again we had an awesome time and were really impressed with the place…. and again the best part (well I think, but the girls will tell you different) was feeding the elephants!

Me and Muski

goat feeding
We fed twin baby goats their bottles (really really REALLY want a goat or two now) and then they girls got lucky and got to bottle feed a piglet each as well!

They patted an alligator – same trainer and in the same spot as last time we visited.. though I expect not the exact same alligator as last time!

We fed kangaroos, patted koalas, watched the croc show, got new Wild Life Warrior T-shirts and we also got an extra special guided tour of the animal hospital so Izzy has reverted back to being ‘Bindi’ and is now going to grow up to be a princess AND a vet….or a tiger trainer.

And Muski did a fair bit of this…
Muski
Yep, that is crawling, real crawling, up on all fours even! The one toed commando crawl is still on the agenda but he has finally mastered a true crawl and now I am ready for him to walk… well ok not ready… but not freaking out that he might walk before he crawled, because true crawling is rather important on a developmental level!

So there you have it… just a little snippet of our holiday. Oh how I wish we didn’t have to come home!

welcome home …we wmissed you.
The photos are lovely and sure to be a special memory.

We wen to Australia zoo last year and loved it.
The day we went was the day they feed the python his monthly frozen goat … gross but interesting.

The twinadoes will be talking about this holiday for along time.

Yay on Muski’s crawling too … next comes the running.

Looks like you had a really great time!

I have such fond memories of Caloundra…I used to visit a friend up there when I was in my teens as her parents had a holiday unit. It’s changed a lot since the late 80s though…!

Great summary of your holiday – the sunshine made me envy for a move up north myself! I thought my youngest was never going to crawl and then he was the oldest when he started to walk too. But he was the earliest to be able to kick a soccer ball with some accuracy :).

BTW – All my technical troubles are over finally and to celebrate my 100th post I have a free e-book to download that you might be interested in called Planning With Kids Top 100 Tips.

What fantastic pictures! Thanks for sharing. It looks like you all had a great time.

Congrats to the little crawler! I LOVE babies crawling. Although, I have heard that “true crawling” is not nearly as important as simply being able to move horizontally, so if he was doing that he was probably fine anyway! But, yes, true crawling is pretty amazing. They look so cute!

I LOVE elephants. And turtles. And most animals. It looks like you guys had so much fun. I’m completely jealous. I don’t feel like I can go do all that fun stuff since I don’t have kids. I’m still a kid at heart. :)
