Birthday Trees…

I usually post an ‘Organise ‘08′ post on Mondays but this is a special edition blog post today so I can gush all about my little monster’s birthday party yesterday!

Despite the lead up being less than perfect - one very sick birthday boy, and rain rain rain, the universe smiled on us yesterday for Muski’s Tree Planting First Birthday party.

It was cold, and a bit grey but the rain cleared mid morning and stayed away all afternoon! The small boy was still sick and a little miserable but as long as he was cuddling whoever it was he demanded to cuddle right at that moment (and there was no shortage of arms offering a cuddle) he was happy enough. We missed a few friends and family members who were also sick or couldn’t make it but lots and lots of our most favourite people came up to plant trees and celebrate!

We were so thrilled to see everyone turning up with a tree or two in hand and thanks to the hard work of several guests we planted about 70 trees yesterday! The kids didn’t seem to mind the cold and had a lovely time out the back on the trampoline, the swings and in the sand pit and generally enjoying each other’s company. A few of us adults also spent some nice time inside on the warm couch enjoying good company too (ok so I personally didn’t plant any trees but I had an excuse.. my baby is sick!), not to mention some yummy food (thanks mum for you help with that).

As usual I didn’t get much of a chance to take any photos… I had Muski on my hip almost the whole time so don’t have a single one of him at his own party! Thankfully the lovely Annette emailed me a couple (if anyone else has some we’d really appreciate a copy!)

Muski’s actual birthday is Wednesday but I suspect it will just be a quiet day at home as he is still rather sick (though better than he was on the weekend) and now the Twinadoes have it (hopefully drugging them up will keep them away from hospital)… so a quiet celebration at home and a nice long indulgent blog post about my baby boy will be the plan for the day, so keep an eye out for it!

    What a gorgeous first birthday celebration for your little man!
    I hope all the little people feel better quickly, and I’m looking forward to a long, indulgent Muski post :)

    nathan is very sorry he didnt get to celebrate the party, he isnt too sure about this tree stuff, but enjoys a munch on wood, and has sent along something he hopes muski will enjoy chewing on as well. save a tree spot or 17 for us later in the year!…

    Poor bubba - at least he had lots of cuddles .
    A tree planting is such a cool idea - you need to take a photo of Muski near the same one every year to measure both their growth.
