The Perfectly Imperfect Life Challenge.

Yesterday, while clicking through a few good blogs I read this post from Squiggle Mum. It reminded me of way back, when I took up the challenge to post my un-tidy kitchen photos and when I joined in with A Foothill Home Companion to post a ‘real life’ moment… and then I clicked on over to A FootHill Home Companion and this sentence caught my eye…

“For some reason, taking pictures of little disasters like these helps me put things in perspective.”

All this has got me thinking….

I’ve been blogging a lot of words lately and not so many photos. I’ve not been motivated to pick up the camera lately. I blame bad light or an untidy house or messy kids. What’s the point in photographing any of that, those shots are not ‘blogworthy’. And yet, maybe they are!

Maybe that’s just what I need to do to get my motivation back. To get over myself and learn to find joy and beauty in the not so perfect bits of my life. To find some perspective. So I’m setting myself a challenge!

The Perfectly Imperfect Life Challenge.

Every day next week I am going to post a photo. An imperfectly perfect photo. I’m going to find the joy in snotty noses and sinks full of dishes. I’m going to embrace grumpy faces and unfolded washing.

Feel free to join in if you like. You don’t have to post every day, or you can if you like. You can just put up a photo, or add a few words or write about something totally different…. no rules. If you post let me know and I’ll link you up in my posts. Starting Sunday… or maybe Monday… no rules remember!

Love this idea Kate. Will have to choose from the many moments in my life at the moment!

I’m with you on the imperfectly perfect. It is, after all, what life is. If perfectly perfect ever exists, it’s only for a split second. For some reason, I took a photo of my unreasonably HUGE ironing pile last week.

I love this idea too Kate. “Opposite to Soulemama” is what first came to my mind LOL!

I hear you on the camera thing. This is our first winter in this house and the first time I have ever had what call crap light. The last place had amazing windows and light all hours of the day *sigh* But I love your challenge idea! I’m gonna give it a shot :)

thats an easy one for me too …my house all over !

This morning I was so tempted to snap (at the kid too) spilt yoghurt …one metre in length across the floor, on the stool, on the kids and bench and all.

I stopped taking photos too because of the background mess and the smotty faces .

Bring it on .I like to know I am not alone too.

Ah yes, a challenge I can fully embrace! Thanx!

Bring it on!
I’m in… I’m sure I’ll have absolutely no problem finding an imperfect moment, or 10.

great idea! i think you’ll definitely gain an interesting perspective during your challenge :)

You know, I was thinking of doing that this week end too. I really need to sort out Erin’s clothes and thought it’d make for good before and after photos…

I’m up for this Kate! Thanks for the link, and I’m glad my moan-and-groan post inspired an exciting project!

Definitely sounds like my sort of thing!

I love this idea! This is the first time I’ve ever left a comment…for anything!!I’m a little bit of a neat freak and definitely wouldn’t photograph a messy house. But I read this and thought…just breathe & do it! Then absolutely scrapbook it.
