Catching Moments

July 7, 2010

Sometimes, when I least expect it, I find myself thinking how good life is. How lucky I am. How I wouldn’t change a thing.

play dough

Then the Big Boy punches his sister so that sister screeches abuse back at him as the other girl dances around wildly and knocks a cup of water all over the table. Meanwhile the baby won’t latch on but is desperately hungry and I discover I have a big piece of blue play dough stuck to my bum, not to mention the dough stuck to the couch, the rug, the ceiling???? All three kids are still in pyjamas and I’ve forgotten to take something out of the freezer for dinner. Did I remember to feed the children lunch a few hours ago and when was the last time anyone fed the guinea pigs???

And the moment passes as quickly as it came…. I try to catch it and remember, but it always seems to slip through my fingers.

Still life is good. I am lucky. I wouldn’t change a thing…. especially now that the baby has eaten and is asleep.

Look at that sweet boy in his blue blue wrap! Love the pic with the hammock in the back also :)

It’s great to come to a point where the highs and lows can stand somewhat alone, the “this is sucking” doesn’t detract from the “so lucky”‘s and there’s less dismay when it’s a rocky road when it was smooth sailing yesterday lol

Is it the hammock, or is his hair looking redder?

At least they have each other to take their frustrations out on, and who needs to put clothes on? That just makes more washing :)

It sounds blissfully happy at your place – if not blissfully quiet.

I know! It is so easy to feel presence and peace – alone! It is something else entirely to still find those moments with appreciation and openness and calm with all the chaos that kids bring us!
