When I suggested that he might like to do some stamping, Muski jumped up excitedly and began to stamp his gum-booted feet loudly around the room!
“Not that kind of stamping… ” I giggled.
“Well what kind of stamping then?” He asked crossly.
“The kind you do with those animal stamps we got from Eco Toys, you know, with ink, on paper.” I said.
“ooooooooooh… Yes please!”
So we got out the animal stamps and went looking for the stamp pad. After a frustrating few minutes it became clear that the stamp pad had migrated to the land of missing socks and lost swimming goggles. It was no where to be found, so I improvised.
I cut a kitchen sponge in half and wet each piece. Then I sprinkled a little of our Glob powder paints on the sponges and smooshed it in with the stamps. We chose red and blue and then we got to work stamping!
These little wooden stamps are nice and easy for small hands to manipulate and they stamp cute animal pictures. Using the paint meant the colour wasn’t as strong as it would have been when stamping with an ink pad, but I didn’t have to worry about ink not washing of hands and faces and walls and tables, and the glob paints are completely non-toxic too.
Smooshing the stamps onto the sponge then wacking them down on the paper is almost as satisfying and stomping around the house in your gum boots, but it is somewhat less likely to wake the baby, which makes Mum happy too!

I like your improvised stamp pad! Will have to keep that trick up my sleeve ;)
We had some stamping fun on our weekend too. I think the colour has finally gone from my fingers as I attempted to clean up my Christmas stamps :) I twll you, nothing is sacred in this house when it comes to crafting!

I used to have similar stamps when I was a child (only they didn’t have the cute heads). It was so much fun. Thanks for bringing back the memories. I should get some stamps for my kids, too.
Great idea to use some paint and the sponges for the stamper ink! We will have to do this, as we have powdered paint and sponges and this would be so much easier to wash up than the so-called washable ink.

Such a fabulous idea. I love the big stampers. We recently discovered the paint dot stamper things and just love them.
What great stamps. I recently bought some of the Glob paints and can’t wait to give them a try.
