Real Life Wednesday – The Best Laid Plans

October 3, 2012

garden
We had plans.

We also had contingency plans.

We didn’t have plans for when our contingency plans went to hell in a hand basket.

But that’s life I guess.

People get held up, things take longer, tradesmen never arrive… plans have to be changed, again.

I admit I’ve had my moments of being super pissed about it, as well as somewhat down about it… but neither of those things helped, so I stopped.

Maybe one day I’ll learn and finally give up on making plans and just let whatever happens happen… but till then we’ll just make new plans.

And we’ll make more plans and different plans and restart the same plan all over again until it’s done… or not.

What does real life look like where you live?

Real Life Wednesday

Now I know I highlighted Boy Mama Teacher Mama last week but I just have to share her post again this week because this has got to be one of the funniest things I read online all week! And this lovely post from Life Happens Then Write made me nod knowingly.

If your life is full of those crazy little things that are so ‘real’ they are ‘unreal’, the things that make you laugh, because if you didn’t laugh you’d cry, those every day things… please join in and link up.

Write a post or take a photo, or share anything that fits the theme of ‘real life’ (make sure it is not a competition or a sponsored post), then link up. Or play along on instagram or twitter with the hashtag #reallifewednesday

Add a link back to this post and pop on over and say hello to some others who have linked up too. Feel free to grab the button below if you like, and don’t worry, you don’t have to post today, the linky will stay live all week.

What a great idea for a linky, Kate. I’ll have to remember this for next week. (Of course, it’s not even Wednesday over here on the other side of the world.)

I posted today about a ‘lighten your load’ challenge. I’m going to be getting rid of a LOT of stuff. Maybe I should take a ‘before’ picture of my basement and post it. That would be getting real! **scary**

Do it! Do it!

I need some inspiration! I’ve been trying to get rid of ‘stuff’ for the entire time we’ve being doing this crazy renovation thing (nearly 2 years! LOL) and I am still surrounded by lots of useless crap that I just can’t seem to get rid of!

You know the thought of actually doing that makes me cringe inwardly — like seriously cringe. BUT, I’ll tell you what. If you want to take part in the challenge (you can get rid of as little or as much as you’d like), then I will (**cringe, cringe**) take a picture of my basement and put it up on my blog. JUST for you!

And then I’ll run and hide under my bed (and cringe)!

Send it to me :) Our school is having a recycling collection of unwanted / unused household items in first week of November. Raising money to pay for Grade 6 graduation.

What a challenge!

I had always believed I could conquer anything if I planned well enough.

Then Annie was born a month early, the day after I had finished work ready to start my maternity leave.

Now I have multipul back up plans.

Kate- Planners are built that way- It is in our DNA. And that is not always a bad thing, right? The seeming rigidity also can afford immense and much-needed flexibility of response with all those plans, contingency-plans, counter-plans and contingency-counter-plans….but, even then, we are taken by surprise, of course….but we have the planning and response exercise down in our innately planning minds. Can you tell I’m a planner and very proud of it? :) Hang in there and Love that photo- Nature photos are my favorite- next to pics of my kids.

I like to plan and goal, but have trained myself to not get too upset when it doesn’t work. I’ll let you know how that goes, work in progess ;p
