Autumn Links

Posted on May 14, 2011 1 Comment

It is suddenly freezing here on the Pickle Farm. I am trying hard to embrace the cooler months of the year, but it’s hard, I hate the cold…. I really hate it. But the Autumn leaves are gorgeous at the moment, so I’m focussing on the beautiful and trying to ignore the freezing, so here are some lovely Autumn links and ideas for those of you in the same boat.

I had plans to make these gorgeous Autumn Leaf lanterns from 5 Orange Potatoes with the kids yesterday (pupil free day at school)…. but alas the dreaded virus got the better and I ended up at the Drs for a few hours with the big boy on the nebuliser (he’s much better now, thanks)… maybe tomorrow.

We did, however, get to do some Autumn Leaf collage this week, and this time last year we were making Autumn Leaf Crowns.

These leaf creature collages from Heart of the Matter look like lots of fun too, I think my big girls would especially like this.

Good old Martha Stewart tells us how to preserve Autumn leaves with glycerine and water and some other stuff… I wonder if this really works?

If it works you could make this awesome Autumn Leaf Garland from Lorajean’s Magazine with your preserved leaves!

I love these hanging letter leaves…. I wonder if it is hard to cut out the letters? Perhaps I could make some with the kid’s names?

And since cold weather is the perfect excuse to bake something sweet… pop on over to my facebook page, I’ve been sharing recipes for sweet treats all week and would love to have you share your favourite recipes too.

Thanks for the links Kate. After reading this entry yesterday, we went out leaf collecting and made a garland. The rest of the leaves we just glued onto a big piece of paper. We had heaps of fun!
