Creativity for Kids Make Your Own Kaleidoscope Kit from Faber-Castell
Have you got school aged kids who like to make stuff? This kit from Faber-Castell comes with absolutely everything to make your own kaleidoscope and it’s pretty damn cool!
My almost nine year olds were able to follow the instructions and do it all themselves and there was lots of ways for Morgan (who is five) to join in too. It was pretty nifty sticking the three mirrors together to make the prism, and there are stickers and fancy paper and markers to decorate the outside. Then it just all slides together. You fill the little container at the end with some of the goodies provided and then… magic! Very cool!
There are lots of other crafty kits for kids on offer from Faber-Castell, check them all out here.
I have two Creativity for Kids Make Your Own Kaleidoscope Kits from Faber-Castell to give away.
JumpStart Virtual World Games For Kids
Instead of filling my house full of stuff I am trying to come up with some gift ideas that don’t take up any space. My kids get a small amount of computer time each week and already love playing on JumpStart so extending our membership is a great gift idea that I don’t have to find somewhere to store!
All three of my big kids play JumpStart and it’s partner site MathBlaster (that you also get access to with membership plus four downloadable games) and love it. There is always something new going on, from the Madagascar characters dropping in to say hello to Thanks Giving turkeys to ride on! There are math and word games to play as you explore the virtual worlds which can be played at various levels so suit a wide age and ability range, and one of the best things about it for me is that one membership gives access for up to six kids to play which makes it a gift the whole family can share.
You can find out more about JumpStart here
I have one, three month membership to JumpStart to give away.
InnoTab 2 by Vtech 2
Have you got a little person in your life who would like to run off with your tablet or smart phone?
I find our ipad and smart phones are life savers when our toddler is stuck waiting somewhere, but he is no longer content with just watching something on the screen for a few minutes, now he’s all about “I do it!” and he’s not keen on me holding the ipad while he does it either! I am waiting for the day when our ipad is dropped by an enthusiastic child and we all cry together!
The InnoTab 2 by Vtech is a kid friendly tablet device that is less likely to shatter into a million pieces when dropped. You can download kid friendly apps, play with photos, watch movies and listen to spoken stories which I think would be my kid’s favourite way to use it. Valued at just under $200 it might make the perfect gift for a small person you know.
I have one InnoTab 2 to give away.
Dirtgirlworld Scrapbook and Expansion Pack from Leaf
When the Dirtgirlworld Scrapbook turned up at our house I was rather tempted to hide it away and keep it for myself. I am such a sucker for a scrapbook and the illustrations in this are just gorgeous, plus I need a garden diary, really I do!
In the end I did share this with my kids and my girls adored it. They have spent lots of time lying outside in the grass drawing pictures of the flowers, plants and insects and writing poems or diary entries.
The scrapbook alone is full of patterned papers and pictures you can use to embellish your pages, as well as little writing prompts and lovely expanses of blank page to draw and write on. The expansion pack adds even more fun with garden journal pages and weather stickers, perfect to help us keep track of our veggie garden! You can find out more about the Dirtgirlworld Scrapbook an expansion pack and other lovely paper products at Leaf.
I have one Dirtgirlworld Scrapbook and Expansion pack to give away to a budding writer, illustrator and/or gardener!
Sammy Sea Patrol by Wow Toys.
Sammy Sea Patrol is life savers jeep that comes with two little life savers and a life ring on a retractable string. If you spend your Christmas holidays at the beach then this is the perfect gift to role play water safety ideas. I reckon it’s probably even Noah proof, and it’s just darn cute too.
You can find out more about Sammy Sea Patrol from kidstuff.
Tiger Tribe Gift Pack.
The fabulous people at Tiger Tribe have a great selection of cool stuff for kids.
We have been having lots of fun with their Make and Play activity sets. Our favourites are the Faces and of coures the Pirate set. You don’t need any glue or paint to get crafty with these sets so no mess and everything you need is in the box.
Since we don’t have a bath right now we tested out the Kid O Tug Boat in a big tub of water. I am sure it is lots of fun in the bath too but Noah had a lovely time playing with the tug and some sea creatures in a shallow tub of water.
We also got to try out some Super Clay. Now this stuff is weird but cool! It’s really light, and feels almost foamy. You can make all kinds of things out of it and it air dries, no baking. Plus you can reuse it even after it has hardened. See, told you it was cool!
You can find out more about all this cool Tiger Tribe stuff and more at their web site.
I have one Tiger Tribe gift pack to give away which includes the Kid O Tug boat, three tubs of Super Clay and the full range of Make and Play sets (five sets), enough to fill anyone’s stocking!
