This week I am grateful for the garden. Although rainy days have been few and far between in January when it did rain it rained quite a bit and boy does the garden go nuts after some rain! Along with heaps of weeds we have so many veggies growing and things are so green out there.
In case you can’t tell, the photos are. from top left – cantaloupe (rock melon), corn, egg plant, zucchini and watermelon. That is only a couple of examples of things that are currently growing and ripening at the moment!
I don’t claim to be a great gardener, in fact I know next to nothing about it all and rely heavily on books and trial and error. I always say each year that I am going to put more time into the summer veggie garden but each year there is always a reason why it never happens. Last summer I was pregnant and busy spewing and this summer I have a small boy who never sleeps and is so fair that even looking at the sun is likely to burn him! Despite all of that the garden keeps on growing, and it keeps on giving is delicious things to eat and for that I am VERY grateful.
I also feel the need to add that I am grateful for The Baldy Boy’s friends – who arrived to play cards with the boy tonight and are smart enough to bring a box of krispy kreme doughnuts to placate the wife who is left to deal with all three children.
Oh and I am also grateful for the fact that I wore my new size 12, yes SIZE 12, jeans today. Ok so they are a large size twelve but who cares. I was very tempted to leave the sticker on them that proclaimed ‘size 12 size 12 size 12’ but I didn’t…. mind you if I don’t stop eating these doughnuts this will be the one and only time they are ever worn!
I know I said I was going to organise a Mr Linky thingy for these grateful Friday/53 Blessings posts so everyone could join in, but time got away from me this week. Plus I am still trying to come up with a catchy name for it! So maybe next week! But if anyone wants to join me in posting either and image and/or a post about what you are grateful for, leave a comment with a link to your post and I will add the link here.
Adding in BabyAmore’s Grateful Friday post on her blog – My Little Drummer Boys. Head on over and say hello!
