Here we are at another ‘Grateful Friday’ and I am contemplating the future of them.
I’ve really enjoyed to push to focus on the good things each week, but I have to admit that I feel a bit ‘constrained’ having to make my post each Friday something I am grateful for. I am not big on rules, especially not for my blog, so I often find myself wishing I could blog whatever is bubbling in my brain on a Friday instead of feeling obliged to post my Grateful Friday post.
So I am thinking that I might ditch the regular Grateful Friday posts – would you all be terribly disapointed?
Maybe I will turn it into a ‘Grateful Carnival’ (definitely needs a better name than that) and run it once a month instead? What about the last Friday of each month (oh boy I am never going to remember that!) I’ll post the Grateful Friday Linky and you can all either use that as inspiration to write a post or simply link up to any posts you have written about things you are grateful for throughout the month? How does that sound? It could even end up being more of a monthly round up perhaps?
Hmmm… help me out here. What would you all like to do with this? Anyone got some great ideas or a fab name?
So I guess for the last time here is what I am grateful for this week…
I am grateful for lots of little things –
The girls going back to kinder, without too many tears or trauma.
The weather deciding to give us some glorious sunny autumn days.
Muski pulling himself up to stand on so many things then flashing this big grin of triumph. The fact that he hasn’t knocked himself out yet, which is no mean feat considering how often he comes crashing down on his head!
Pickleberrypop, chatting to Annette and Nee on Hello, and actually enjoying and being motivated to design a few things this week. Hopefully the mojo will continue and I will have something special to show on the design front next month sometime.
Talking with my friend Miss Tracey online and planning a nice relaxing holiday up near them when we will get to met their gorgeous little man and catch up with some other friends – I can’t wait!
Laughing with the Twinadoes as we looked at photo albums. They were asked to bring photos of ‘people they love’ to kinder, they wanted to bring in a pile of photos because they said they ‘love everyone!’ We giggled at photos of the Baldy Boy and his mates as a teenagers, and I went up in the girls opinion one hundred fold when I showed them photos of my two trips to Disneyland (once to Tokyo and once in LA). Looking at photos of Miss Tracey and Wrinkle Carl’s wedding the girls nearly wet their pants with excitement and Izzy looked at me with amazement and said “Why didn’t you tell me Tracey used to be a princess!!??!!??”
I’ve been reading some good blogs – a couple of new favs
Sleepless Nights – I just checked in the get the link and um the most recent post is um… ahem… very enjoyable! (warning – you might want to wait till there are not kids around before you follow this link!)
From the Rubber Room
Three Times Kewl
We have tomatoes in our garden. Now, in April, when the weather has turned cold, we finally have tomatoes!
We made bread, twice – the second time it was the best loaf I’ve ever managed.
Yeah, lots of little things to be thankful for, I guess it has been a good week around here. Anyone else care to join in?
Thankyou so much for the link!
Yes, try to move your kids away from the computer before coming over today.
A monthly carnival of gratitude sounds perfect Kate. I love the concept, but Fridays do seem to come by so frequently!
Yep I think a carnival would be fabulous. There are always heaps of little things to be grateful for, though writing about them every Friday is less exciting than a whole month worth of gratefulness.
Thanks for the mention :)
Hi, I think a carnival is a very good idea or the monthly thing. I took part in this for the first time today, but I’m not sure that I’d be able to think something up every week.
I hear you about too many rules, shoulds, have to’s and so forth. Your blog is where you can be free to express yourself however you want. Only do something if you want to, not because you have to. If you want to switch to Carnival Friday’s go for it :-) I think I’ll keep going with a Grateful Friday post. It is a good reminder for me. I have been keeping it simple – just listing one thing. I also feel I can make a second post if I want or if I have more to say I can just include it in my Grateful Post. Again – there really aren’t any rules are there.
i think bi-weekly or monthly is great…on the other hand, you can just do it when you feel like it and not when you don’t! That’s what I do! LOL.
oh, and i still can’t figure out how to get the “Grateful Friday” button on my blog posts…what am i doing wrong?!
To be grateful is such an important thing. Some stuff has gone on around me lately that has made me take stock and appreciate what I have. Being the planning nerd that I am, I have a theme for my Friday post, so haven’t participated, but I think a monthly carnival would be great and allow for a variety of posts expanding on the grateful theme.
No ideas for a name though – brain is a bit tired and there is absolutley no creativity flowing through it!
I am interested in something to do with being grateful. I used to use a notebook rather than rely on my memory, that seemed to work. I have only just found Grateful Friday.
The last Friday has gone for this month, I guess I will check in for further updates.
