My Mum collects reindeers. And since it’s almost Christmas (!!! I am not ready!!!) her house is now full of them! My Mum is a pretty down to earth person and she knew the girls would want to play with the reindeers so she’d put all the soft toy ones and non-breaky ok to be played with ones out down low where the girls could reach and just let them go for it! The girls thought they were in heaven when we arrived yesterday!!!
It took them a while to figure out what they were… at first they thought all the soft toy ones were teddies and the figurine type ones were horses – which makes sense really since they have never seen a reindeer! But Mum explained what they were and Izzy suddenly twigged.. exclaiming… ‘oooooooh raining deers!’
Now that is the new ‘catch phrase’ at Mum and Dad’s place – ‘look out, it’s raining deers’
Poor Zoe still has ‘issues’ with a lot of Christmas. She doesn’t like anything Santa – she’s ok with small Santa ornaments after a while but at first site she is not keen. And all hell breaks loose if we go near a ‘live Santa’ or one of those big ones that dance and sing! She loved the toy raining deers until they discovered the one that moved and sang jingle bell rock…. she was petrified! And to make matters worse Izzy LOVED it and quickly figured out how to make it go much to the disgust of her sister. I still have the marks on my arm from where she dug her finger nails in!
So in light of the dancing raining deer incident I think I did make the right decision not to go to the Wiggles Concert. I’d been having major pangs of guilt about not buying tickets with everyone else months ago… back then both the girls were petrified of loud noises but more importantly I didn’t think I could cope with both of them on my own with no pram. In fact I know I couldn’t cope on my own without a pram… just getting from the car to our seats would have been difficult let alone coping afterwards when they would both be tired. But I still felt guilty… everyone else at playgroup is going except us. But I am pretty sure Zoe wouldn’t have liked it at all, in fact I think it would have petrified her. I hope this is just a stage though as I wouldn’t mind doing a wiggles concert one day!
On the scrapping front – well I have finished the calendars I have been working on as Chrissy presents. Took one to be bound yesterday and it looks greats so I am really pleased about that! I am having major scrappers block about our Christmas card though… yes not much more than a week till Christmas and still no Christmas card finished! Ugh! It is driving me nuts! But on a brighter note my Christmas kit is rocking along and may just get finished by the end of this week which would be a major achievement!!!
And on that note I am off to bed…. night all!
