I need to take more photos. Not perfect, staged, awesome, arty photos… just more photos, of the imperfect, every day kind. If you’re like me here are some lovely links to some photography tips, tricks and inspiration.
This 30 Day photography challenge from Superrrr Baaarbs has been around the web a lot lately, but it is a fab way to kick you in the bum and remind you to take more photos.
These low light photography tips from Picture Correct are fabulous.
If you have to use your flash bouncing it off something to diffuse the light is the best way to do it. This tutorial shoes you how to make a quick and effective flash diffuser using a business card, awesome!
Don’t forget to include yourself in the photos! The lovely Lisa has a great tutorial for taking self portraits at her blog Life as We Know It.
This image from one of the latest MILK books is awesome! I’ve read that it was done by having the camera around your neck and using the self timer as you swing the child around. Cool!
And lastly, I adore this guest post by Chubby Cheek Photography on Inspire Me Baby. I love what she has to say about photographing your own moments…
“Remember it doesn’t have to be the perfect lighting or a perfectly set up shoot…playing in the playroom, reading books on their beds, bubbling up in the bath, helping with chores….it doesn’t matter just CAPTURE THEM BEING THEM, you won’t regret it!”
Oh and I also wrote a post for the new The Mummble blog about using your own photos in your blog posts.
Where do you go for photography information and inspiration? Like me up!
Thank you for this, Kate, lots of useful links there. I’ve just bought a DSLR, so this is very timely….
ooh what did you get???
I have a very old (but still good) Nikon… I’d love a new lens or two though!
Thanks for these links Kate checking some out now :)
Thanks Kate! Great links. I always love to know more about photography. I’m a big believer in just capturing my kids being kids… I take so many pics, some get shared, but most would only be appreciated by me and my family – and those are the ones we treasure.
This was so helpful, thank you! Photos are one thing I struggle with and want to improve on, and I didn’t know where to start until you shared these links. Will definitely check them out!
Some great ideas Kate. I also just read this post from Kate from 0ur Little Sins about photographing one colour and making a collage….which I think looks great….especially in yellow! http://www.ourlittlesins.com/2011/08/yellow.html
I love photo’s. Will have to check these links out. Thanks. xx
I’m loving all you links! As a new kid on the blogosphere, I am learning heaps – thanks!
We are already avid amateur photographers. Although quantity doesn’t always equal quality, I do think that taking lots and then being selective about what you keep helps to get a better pic!
Love your blog! I’ve included it in my list of favorite websites in my latest post. Come pick up your award, if you are interested!
Love photo tips! I’m working on “angles” and taking more interesting photos. I seem to be stuck in a rut! LOL Thanks for stopping by my blog!
