I was so close to forgetting to blog today!
We’ve been out most of the day for family lunch and after a make shift dinner when we got back all of us went out for a wander in the vegie garden in the cool evening air. I popped Muski on my back in our very funky new Beco Baby Carrier (oh it is so ace!) and the girls donned their gumboots in their PJs and we all headed out.
We picked the first of our strawberries! Mmmmmmm yum… though something is eating little holes in them, does anyone know what it could be?? We wandered around looking at the other seedlings, assessing those that hadn’t made it and those that were looking good. Corn is sprouting and we look like we might have enough self seeded tomatoes coming up to make up for the few seedlings that didn’t survive plant out. Hopefully with the huge rain we’e had in the last 24 hours plus the extra warm weather everything will have a BIG grow this week.
It was so nice wandering around as the sun was setting. I pulled a few weeds, the girls ate a few strawberries, the Baldy Boy and I argued about the best use of second half of our fenced in vegie area and how we’d know when the galric was ready to be picked… all was good. Muski fell asleep on my back… aww… too cute.
We headed in so the girls could go to bed and I expected Muski to wake up when I took him out of the carrier but he was out like a light! Tototally dead to the world… yes the child who never sleeps didn’t even wake up when I threw him over my shoulder and trooped off to the bedroom, nor did he wake when I wrapped him up (he loves to be wrapped to sleep). He only stirrer enough to have a quick feed after I poked and prodded him a bit and to my amazement after a minute or two rolled off the breast and started snoring!
Oh I was so excited… He’s not been asleep before about 10pm for the last week or two and never without hours of me trying to coax him to sleep. Don’t get me wrong, he isn’t grumpy, or difficult.. in fact he will lie on the bed next to me and chat and giggle for hours and hours while I try everything to try and get him to sleep since I am sure after being awake for 6 hours he must be ready for bed! It’s actually most enjoyable, how can you not love lazing around with a little man gabbling away? But that is usually the time I’d have a shower, work on stuff on the PC, or just take a little time out for myself, so it does get a bit tiring sometimes.
So I had a little party when he seemed to go to sleep so easily tonight. I couldn’t decide what to do first… Watch some TV on the couch? Actually talk to the Baldy Boy? Have a bath? Eat something I don’t allow the kids to eat? So many opportunities… but I didn’t stop for a second to think that I hadn’t blogged today.
Then just as I was about to decide, Muski woke up. After about 7 minutes sleep he was awake and ready to go. I lay down with him in an vain attempt to use my super milk making powers to induce more milk but gave up when he kept pulling off to giggle at me with a mouthful of milk! I gave up my plans of a bath and junk food and popped Muski in the hammock and turned on the PC for distraction while I rocked him to sleep, lamenting the loss of my free time…. that’s when I suddenly remember!
Nablopomo! I need to blog today!
Phew! Lucky for me I have a child who never sleeps… um… er… ok so he is actually asleep in the hammock behind me now so that is not quite true, so just lucky for me I have a Muski!
