It’s been a big week and set to get even bigger in the coming weeks! June is looking like being one of ‘those months’.
So after coming and going and battling, even winning occasionally, all week yesterday turned into a super slack day. I stayed in my Pjs ALL DAY! I dressed the girls at about 2pm when they came to me bearing an assortment of clothes and asked to get dressed, (I should have taken a photo as they wore a very interesting combination of clothes) but I just never managed to get out of my Pjs… and it was bliss. We had the fire on and after a bad night of ups and downs we just hung around on the couch reading books till Si woke up early afternoon, then played and worked a bit in the afternoon. So nice not having to be anywhere and not having to ‘look respectable’.
Last night I put the finishing touches on the new do… So not exciting to anyone else but I finally managed to squeeze in a haircut last weekend after needing one badly for weeks. I hate having my hair cut and I don’t think I have ever had a good hair day in all my life, so the hair cut wasn’t anything more than getting the fast hair cut franchise to chop about 8 cms off the bottom, no fancy styles, no fuss, but man I feel so much better with it done! Before the chop my hair hadn’t been that long since I was a little kid.. and it was horrible…I couldn’t ever figure out how to put it up and have it look nice and I was shedding like crazy so it had to go. Now with a few less grey hairs and a lot less hair I feel a lot better about life!
To add to my moment of vanity… I even shaved off the mohair stockings this week! Gasp! yes me, the hippy la la mother is so so soooooooo not a hippy in the way I look! I am, however short on time and water which means rarely having a bath on my own for the past year! So since the sun has gone for good and I don’t have any males to impress on the boudoir I hadn’t bothered to spare the time or water and just let them hairs grow and grow! Ugh… got to the point though that it felt all icky, I could even feel it ‘blowing in the wind’ when I walked around bare legged! YUCK! So it just had to go! Thankfully I am not super hairy so I should be able to manage another month or so before it gets that bad again!
So I am sure you are all just so pleased that you bothered to read my blog today… you all so badly needed to know that I don’t get dressed some days, that I am a perpetual bad hair day and that the mohair stockings were well and truly gross… ah life is wonderful isn’t it!
Have to go now and eat a lovingly prepared meal made from pink play dough, gumnuts and paper! Yum!
Hehehe, you make me laugh girl! Funny how a simple thing like a haircut can give you a bit of a new lease on life. ;o)
hehe!!
I have mohair stockings too, but don’t mind them. I always shave in the shower, but what with water restrictions and forgetting .. they haven’t been done for months, dont have bare legs very often so forget about them even more hehe
Kate I meant to ask on Tues about your hair… it looks really good!!
And ROFL at the legs… I shaved mine yesterday for the first time in months and it was a massive undertaking!!
HAHAHAH it is nice to know I am not alone went to attempt the task the other day before being called out of the shower.. LMAO the things we share with the entire world;) Glad you were able to use some mummy time wisely and do your hair you must feellike a new woman ;)
Oh yay for getting your hair done. I am still on a hair high since getting mine done the other week. It really can make you feel good.

Ha Ha, Mohair stocking! I call mine a ‘winter coat’. But since I am going to an ante natal swimming class I thought the rest of the class probably didn’t want to see that!
Missed you at the zoo today.
PMSL mohair stockings!!! People just don’t understand when I tell them it’s hard to get time (or motivation) to shave… unless they have kids!!
Oh Kate, your blog is an absolute joy to read :)…. I now know that I’m not alone in the world LOL ;)
It may be mundane for you but your blog always makes me smile and say oh my kids are normal!
ROFL @ the hair cut and mohair stockings! That’s me too! My hair has not been cut since Dec 2004 and it is the longest it has ever been (I’m gettig a home visit in two weeks) and as for the legs, well, I have an epilator somewhere…..
