I am remembering a day early this week, because tomorrow I will be at the Digital Parents Conference, enjoying an oasis of blogginess.
But today… today I am stressing about what clothes to wear and whether my flubbery bits will look even more flubbery than usual. I am worrying about how I will sound when I speak, and if anyone will stop eating their dinner to listen. I am all jittery about the prospect of meeting new people, and wondering if I will be kicking myself for being to shay to say hello to people I’d really like to meet…
So today I really need to remember…
I need to remember that I am more than the way others may (or may not) judge my outside appearance.
I need to remember that a number on a scale or a mathematical equation does not change my worth.
I need to remember that my flubbery bits are part of me, they tell the story of who I am.
I need to remember that my goal is to be strong, to be good and to be happy, not to be liked.
I need to remember to be brave.
I need to remember that good things happen when I step outside my comfort zone.
I need to remember that things are never as scary after you’ve done them, as they seem to be before you start.
I need to remember to be kind to myself, and to love all of me.
What do you need to remember?
Some other lovely bloggers have been remembering too…
Max and Me wrote some gorgeous rememberings about her boy.
Nelbe Gluten Free also has a lovely list of things she’d like to remember about her boy.
Feel free to write your own remembering post, or leave a comment telling me your rememberings. There is no rules, no time frames, no official linky… but if you’d like to join in, please do! If you blog a remembering please leave me a comment with the link so I can come read it and I’ll share your link here next week too.
