Today I will plant cucumbers, pumpkins, zucchinis, and tomatoes.
No, I am not insane (well ok I am, but not because of this), I know it is still freezing outside, I am planting them on my windowsill.
I am planting them in little newspaper pots with a pinch of blind faith that in 10-12 weeks the frosts will be gone and the weather will be warm enough for me to replant them outside. It’s a crazy thing I do at around this time every year, a little reminder to myself that it won’t be cold and miserable forever.
And while I am busy playing with seeds and covering the dining table with dirt, you can check out some of these cool links…
Do you have a veggie garden? What will you (or have you if you live on the other side of the world) plant this year?
Feel free to share a link in the comments or over on my facebook page or follow me on pinterest for loads more cool links.
A few weeks ago we very optimistically planted two types of beans, two types of cucumbers and three types of tomatoes in our mini greenhouse. Seeing as Perth currently thinks that spring has sprung that has worked out pretty well!
We have a huge veggie garden. CB has got the tomato seeds in trays in our sun room at the moment. Every time the kids go past I cringe in case they knock the trays over. We’ve got peas, beans, tomatoes, zucchinis, and lots of other veggies all going in over the next few weeks. Then from December onwards we are over run with vegetables. It is a nice problem to have!
Glad you liked the recycled journals! I would love to see how they turn out!
Oooh it’s so exciting when the veggie garden planting time of year rolls around (although I do admit that it’s more my husband who plants and cares for the garden… me? Well I’m just the cook!). We (he!) has planted kale, baby spinach and a few other bits and pieces that I like to make into green juice. Everything tastes better when it’s from your own garden!
Oh I followed you doing this last year, and I’m so glad you posted this b/c I wasn’t sure when to start. Thx so much for the inspiration – the kids will be so excited to have the “baby plants” again!
