1. Printables Galore
It’s been a big week for printable goodies around here. On Tuesday I shared our printable ‘build your own robots’ and now my head is full of other things I could create and print onto magnet paper. And then on Wednesday/Thursday (depending which half of the world you live in) I shared some new playdough printables over at Nurture Store. Since Cathy inspired me to create the first playdough printables, I though it only fairy that I guest post with some sea creature printables to say thank you!
2. Major Tom
All the videos from Commander Chris Hadfield on board the International Space Station are WAY cool, but this one is my favourite.
3. Books
Since I have two nine year olds I was going to share this awesome list of books for 9+ year olds, but then I found this list of books for 12 year olds which has lots of books I’d like to read and some my girls could already read, and well.. I think I should really just share this whole blog because if you and your kids like books then you’ll like Children’s Books Daily.
4. Translation?
I need to bake this Funfetti Cake from Sally’s Baking Addiction (I think I am addicted to her blog actually). But I need a little US English to Aussie English translation… so non-parelis are what we call hundreds and thousands right? And by sprinkles she is meaning the straight stick ones? I call them decorettes, but I think that is an old fashioned brand name.
5. Body Image Issue?
Thanks to the always brilliant If I ran the Circus for this link to a great New York Times article about how body image issues seem to start with our babies these days. As someone who has a ‘small’ toddler right now I can totally appreciate well meaning people’s seemingly insane obsession with a two year old’s size and weight.
6. Trust
While I am sitting rocking in a corner chanting ‘This too shall pass’ over and over, Shawn from Awesomely Awake has been busy helping us trust ourselves as parents. This article really hit home for me… a little trust goes a long way.

We call everything 100s & 1000s- the little balls and the little sticks. But I don’t think that helps you at all!!
I love your ideas thank you for sharing. Also I feel so uplifted and positive after reading your web page. I would like to ask where I could find magnet paper and what is it?
Thank you
I always discover the best new-to-me sites courtesy of you! Thank you so much!
I just love your playdough printables, Kate! I featured your post and photo at Nurture Store in my Montessori-Inspired Summer Playdough Activities post at http://livingmontessorinow.com/2013/06/10/montessori-monday-montessori-inspired-summer-playdough-activities/
