Smiley Saturday!

At the risk of being too overly happy, grateful and optimistic I thought I might share the Mr Linky Love (since I am hoping for some of my own eventually) and follow yesterdays gratefulness with today’s Smiley Saturday – bought to you by the fabulous Lightening!

I actually didn’t think I had much to smile about today. I am tired. After staying up a little late last night to help host our Australia Day Chat at pickleberrypop.com when I finally stumbled to bed I was attacked by mosquitoes which robbed me of the oh… I dunno…2 hours of unbroken sleep I get each night. So can we all say cranky??

I am not the only one who is cranky today. Muski has refused to sleep all day. I am constantly amazed at how long this child can go without sleep…. surely a 7 month old baby should not be awake for 6 hours in a row??

So while I tried in vane to get Muski the Monster to sleep so I could attempt to do some of the million and one things on my ‘to do’ list I was not feeling much like smiling… in fact I just wished I could have five minutes of working on the PC without a cranky Muski on my lap crying and complaining. To add even more frustration to my day, the girls decided they had to join Muski and I in the study to have a whinge at me. Arrrghhh! I just needed a moment when no one was whining or crying!

Then out of the blue, for no good reason at all, Muski started to giggle. Not just a little laugh, a real chuckle, then uncontrollable giggles. What on earth was he laughing at? I looked at him sitting on my lap, looked at him looking at Izzy and still couldn’t figure out what was so funny. Meanwhile he was just about beside himself with laughter.

“What’s so funny?” I asked and the girls chimed in with a very helpful “yeah, what’s so funny???”

He stopped for a moment to look at me, looked back at Izzy and there were more giggles… by this point both the girls and I were starting to get the giggles as well.

It took us a while to figure it out, but every time Izzy touched a funny furry ball thing that was lying on the couch Muski giggled. If she happened to pick it up and play with it in her hands he just about wet himself with laughter. Of course the more Muski laughed, the more Izzy played with the ball, starting and stopping to see if he would start and stop with her.

It was all too infectious and in the end all four of us were laughing our heads off. The more one of us laughed the more the others laughed, until no one knew what was so funny any more!

So there you go.. that is what makes me smile this Saturday. A small boy who never sleeps who laughs at his crazy sister for no good reason.

I wonder when was the last time I had a really good laugh? Laughed so much I cried? Laughed uncontrollably, even when it was really not appropriate? Ah a good laugh… makes the whole world seem better, though it does help that Muski is finally asleep now too!

In other news…

Since everyone has been asking me, I will share with you some more about the things I learnt this week!

To get super slime out of your child’s eyebrows use a bit of olive oil to coat the eyebrows then wash off with warm water. Sadly this didn’t work on her hair so she has lost another chunk of hair! I still haven’t figured out how to get it off their clothes!

The pig and the hair? Well, lets just say when visiting the animal farm display at the local shops, with a baby in the sling on your hip and your hair loose… don’t lean down to pick up something off the floor within range of a piglet!

The 100’s and 100’s snorting? Back seat of the big white van on the way home from town. The Twinadoes eating iced finger buns with 100’s and 1000’s on the top. I hear from the back seat.. “Hey Zoe they taste good up your nose…” and glance over my shoulder just in time to see both my daughters stick their nostrils to their finger buns and take a big sniff!
