Space Imaginative Play
We used our space characters and some playdough for some fun imaginative play.
Here’s what we used to set up our space themed imaginative play:
- Black and grey playdough with glitter using this playdough recipe
- Space rocks made of scrunched up foil
- Recycled foam sheet to make a bumpy planter surface
- Glass marbles for extra planets
We set everything up on a large plastic tray to encourage the playdough to stay on the tray and not end up on the floor.
Scrunching up the foil to make space rocks was great fun, and a great fine motor work out too.
We used the playdough to make ‘stands’ for the space accessories so they can ‘stand up’ and can be easily moved around, but the astronaut, alien and rocket also come with a paper stand you can slot into the bottom if you like.
This was a great space themed activity that encourage lots of imaginative play, and lots of expressive language and story telling, as well as working on lots of fine motor skills.
