Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

“Step out of your comfort zone…”

I heard Jessica Watson, the teenager who sailed around the world alone, say that when she was on Dancing With The Stars and it’s been stuck in my head ever since.

What do I ever do that has me stepping outside of my comfort zone?

Not much these days.

Perhaps that is because it’s life with little kids is kind of monotonous. There’s not much time for sailing around the world, or jumping out a plane… mind you there is no way you will get me to jump out of a plane, I am way too indecisive and practical for that.

But perhaps it isn’t just about the big things, the adrenalin rushes, the crazy things… perhaps it is also about the small things.

Maybe it is as simple as setting my goals a little higher than I think. Doing some little thing that I wouldn’t normally do.

Perhaps it is as simple as dying my hair red, wearing something orange, or talking to that school mum at pick up time…

What have you done lately that stepped your outside of your comfort zone?

Pretty much every day at the moment, but that may be because anything beyond sleeping and breathing is outside my comfort zone…

I think short red hair would look awesome, Kate :-)

Our big move has certainly taken me out of my comfort zone – literally, but you know what? I am relishing the change and the challenge.

I am always outside of my comfort zone. From dying my own hair lately, to having a friend over for a meal…major anxiety for me…or attempting to run, just something I was not made to do.
