Easy dress ups to sew

Ok so I may just be posting these fabulous dress ups links so that my Mum reads this and decides to make some for my kids… but hey… at least I’m honest! Boy-ish dress-ups are always hard to find but these fleece pirate dress-up from Sew Can Do are cool and my girls would love […]

Tree House Doll’s House.

Posted on July 6, 2011

tree house

Inspired by Childhood101 and Irresistible Ideas we decided to make a tree house doll’s house as a gift for Morgan’s 4th birthday. We used Silver Birch branches and one big log of hardwood for the large rounds. We drilled and screwed the bigger support trunks to a pine board base and drilled and screwed the […]

Thank Goodness for Imagination.

Posted on June 21, 2011

Being woken at 5am to gale force winds, water cascading down the walls of your bathroom, water flowing in under the kitchen door, and ‘rain drops’ dripping from the corner of the kid’s room doesn’t make for a very fun start to the day. And things just went from bad to worse as the morning wore on. No electricity in parts of the house, which also means no running water. A while back, I wrote an article for a friend, Pretend, Make Believe, Imagine, Play and Learn which was published on the Natural Parenting site. It was an easy article to write, it just kind of fell out of my fingers as they typed. It was easy because imaginative play is a topic I feel […]

The Thing About Trains

Posted on April 22, 2010

We got our first set of Brio Trains when the girls were just toddlers. Since then there has been a long love affair with trains in our house. We’ve now got a huge selection of wooden train tracks, roads and associated accessories, and each Christmas or birthday we seem to need an even bigger box […]

What Can We Do Today? Go Prehistoric!

Posted on July 29, 2008

I need at least ten minutes of peace to get Muski to sleep during the day. That means I need ten minutes where the Twinadoes don’t sound like baby elephants on our wood floors, don’t scream at each other at the top of their lungs and don’t come whining to me for something ever 30 […]
