We are still waiting for the magical moment when Muski opens his mouth and suddenly starts to talk in complete sentences. I’m beginning to think it might not happen quite like that… I am beginning to see a slow and painful acquisition of one word at a time…
Before Christmas “dat” appeared and left us dancing around the house trying to guess which ‘dat’ he was actually referring to.
In early January “hhhhot” was heard from the small boy. Considering he is oven obsessed and has heard everyone shriek “Hot!!!!” at him a number of times I can’t say I was that surprised.
At the end of last week we got “no no no no nooooooooooooooooo”
And yesterday a new word, actually two words strung together… that is almost a sentence!
“Hi there!” he said as he picked up the phone and pretended to talk. “Hi there, hi there, hi there!” Just like the American accented voice that comes from his little toy phone when he presses number 5…”Hi there”.
I am still waiting for him to say Mamma.
oooh, PickleMum, it will happen sooner or later! I know what you mean when you are waiting for “ma ma” and it always seems to be “da da” LOL!
My baby DS’s first “word” at 10mths was “whassat” (what’s that?) said appropriately, and continually about everything, even now LOL! I love those “words” that are actually 2 words or a phrase run together, our recent one is “wanmohmin” which is “one more minute” LOL!
Well, he is a pretty cute “strong silent type” LOL! All in good time..
BTW, BDS has a nappy cover the same as Muski’s hat LOL!
Ah, I love those magical first words. I found with Chiq the first few came very slowly, but now she’s going you can’t shut her up!
Aw, that is just the most gorgeous photo of him! First words are fun… La’s was the oh-so-irrelevant “cracker”. At least Muski’s are all useful ones! LOL
It will happen, then you wont know what hit you! Boys always take a little longer to get started, and with twin chatty older sisters he probably doesn’t have much of a chance! LOL Our William, third baby, didn’t start talking until after his 3rd birthday. Seriously, maybe one or two words but that would be it. I have a video of him on his third birthday, not a word, just some noises! Now of course, at 5 and about to start school, he wont be quiet! hehe Gorgeous photo though, he really is beautiful!
My boy’s first word was ‘McDongals’, aka McDonalds … can you believe that??? :)
Oh, just wait until “dis” also makes and appearance – the world can be conquered with “dis” and “dat” at your disposal.
Oh – and Mum is unspoken because she is always there and reliable.
Sounds very familiar Kate!
It will happen! I now have a two year old who is talking like a four year old and asking WHY? all the time! Does my head in!!!
precious things are worth waiting for……..
hugs
