The Destructo Twins!

Posted on December 11, 2005 2 Comments

No they are not some new super hero from a snazzy comic book, they belong to me and they are driving me nutty!

We used to call Zoe and Izzy ‘the unhelpful helpers’ as they would always want to help but end up being way more unhelpful than helpful. But at least, back then, their intentions were good. Now I am just going to call them ‘destructo 1 and destructo 2 – the twinado begins’…

We put up our christmas tree on Friday night. This was a HUGE deal!

We’ve never bothered to have a christmas tree before…. when it was just the Baldy Boy and I, we were never home over christmas so didn’t bother. The girls first christmas was spent in hospital so I cancelled the whole deal that year. Last Christmas I was still up to my eyeballs in spew and being pulled between families so just couldn’t face it, but this year is different.

This year we have a wonderful new house, we have two two year olds who have just started to ask who Santa is (as an aside they both call Santa ‘it’s -a-bad-man’ to much amusement but they are really saying ‘ginger bread man’ as the first santa of the season this year was a ginger bread man one!) plus our neighbors have a whole FOREST of Christmas trees!! So I’d bugged The Baldy Boy about it all week and he finally went next door on Friday and with much drama and choosing chopped down their smallest pine tree… which was HUGE! We did more butchering and trimming to make it fit in the door then decorated it with the help of the ‘unhelpful helpers’. Loads of fun with a little bt of frustration thrown in for good measure!

Ok I knew they’d want to to have a look at the decorations and that the ones low enough for them to reach wouldn’t last long. No problem. I just put all the non breaky ones down low and dealt with them going missing. What I didn’t think of was that when they’d taken all the decorations they could reach that they’d start on the actual tree!!!!

They have de-nuded of all the pine needles from wherever they can reach!!! They even climb on the couch and bring chairs to reach up that little bit higher to grabs some more!!!! And the worst things is they just leave them on the floor!!!!

Arrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

So now, not only do I have a half nude Christmas tree I also have a lounge room covered in sticky pine needles!

At the destructo twins strike again!

Oh Kate..sorry to laugh, you know I feel for you really.
I decided the best tactic for us is to wait until the week before Xmas and then put it up to save me weeks and weeks of yelling at them to leave it alone, I plan to block it off as much as possible (not holding my breath on that one either) and then take it down as quick as we can afterwards!
Can’t quite bear the thought of no tree at all!

I agree though, would love to see your nudie tree!
