the evil one

Ok, Ok, those who know us in real life know I am NOT one to perpetuate the whole ‘one twin is good, one twin is bad’ thing and in reality they are both very evil in their own ways, but there is this one trait of Zoe’s that is funny, embarrassing and evil!

Zoe is twin 2, she is the one who was up the top… stuck high under my ribs. The one who, every time she moved in the last few weeks of pregnancy, made me vomit because she squished up my stomach! Zoe was the one who got what seemed to be worst end of the TTTS deal in utero…. she had no space, no amniotic fluid and no blood or food.. her sister got it all (though in reality getting too much of all those things can do far worse damage long term so really Izzy got the bad end of the stick!). She is was born second.. a whole 30 seconds after her sister, and she was smaller.

But from before they were born, Zoe has always been the ‘evil twin’. My best friend would ask me if I’d give one of the twins to her and I always told her that she could have the ‘evil twin’… and when she asked which one that was I’d point and tell her ‘this one’… that is how it started.
Perhaps she is just living up to expectations and it serves me right for ever mucking around and labelling her that in the first place!

These days, my ‘evil twin’ is almost three and has some major paranoid fears. She is frightened of other children. She is scared of loud noises and crowds. She is scared of any animal or machine that moves towards her. If you met her now you wouldn’t think she was at all the evil one. But if someone happened to hurt themselves… then you would see why she is still the evil twin.

Miss Zoe can be on my lap at playgroup, scared of the other kids, whimpering and wanting to hide under my clothing to get away. Then she will notice one of the other kids fall over and get hurt and she lets out this wicked giggle.

Yep my child laughs when others get hurt!

It is embarrassing… a child is bleeding and crying and Zoe is giggling hysterically! And it is not a quick, quiet, little giggle either.. it is a long, loud, infectious giggle so you often find that you have to stifle a laugh yourself.

Her favorite TV show is Funniest Home Videos but she only likes the ones where people get hurt

The other night during the stereo spewing she would go from chucking her guts up and crying to suddenly laughing whens he saw her sister doing the same thing!

I burnt my finger on the fire yesterday and she is standing there laughing hysterically as I am running it under the tap, eyes watering.

Maybe she is just getting her own back for being squished up in utero? Maybe I brought this on myself for ever giving her the nick name in the first place? Whatever it is…. I love my evil twins to bits even when she is embarrassing me at playgroup!

And on a lighter note.. a few recent photos…. You will notice in all the photos the wild hair we have going on… that is because I can’t get near the girls with a comb or a brush without a HUGE tantrum so I have given up trying to make them look presentable when we are not going anywhere, and often times even when we are!

I did giggle reading this too..no offense to the children she giggles at! Trent’s fav show is also FHV…although when kids get hurt he says ‘oh no’ and promptly bursts into tears! Maybe they can watch together and even each other out?????

OMG that had me wetting myself! ROFL! Oh you gotta scrap that whole entry, I love it, probably best not to show her until after her therapy sessions have cured her though!

Those pics are great Kate, but I do love the “dishes” and “chooks” ones, both absolutely gorgeous!

Great entry again, when are you going to write a book?

My dad used to do that…laugh when someone hurts themselves. It used to get him into a bit of trouble with Mum. I love the photos Kate.
