My big boy will turn four tomorrow, though we’ve kind of told him he turned four today, because we want to have his brother’s birthday tomorrow, instead of on Sunday when it should be, because we have a ballet rehearsal and Sunday and well, our life is complicated like that! So in honour of my four (but not really quite yet) year old, here are some things I know about my Big Boy.
My big boy is tall and still very very very blonde, but his curls are all gone.
My big boy is a crazy mix of wonderfully lovely and wildly difficult.
My big boy says his best friends are Zoe and Izzy, but his big bestest friend is Willow.
My boy hates to be kissed, but loves to let me kiss him so he can wipe them off while I pretend to get cranky!
My big boy still has a thing about arms and will seek out a bare elbow to rub if one is available.
My big boy loves green.
My big boy likes Barbies. He has a boy one called Mint.
My big boy loves Star Wars. He likes Yoda best, because he’s green.
My big boy is going to be a chef when he grows up. He is going to have a restaurant called ‘Rainbow’ and only cook food that his mum makes and food that is yummy.
My big boy didn’t say a word till he was nearly two and a half, now he speaks beautifully.
My big boy has been known to say such phrases as “Go away, you person! ” and “f*$%ing, Shit, Bugger!”
My big boy is frightened of dogs.
My big boy howls when things don’t go his way.
I know that my big boy is four years old, but it still seems like only yesterday that we were waiting and waiting and waiting for his arrival.

Gorgeous post! Happy Birthday to your Big Boy, for today and tomorrow.
Your big boy is beautiful! I love all the things you’ve lovingly captured about him. Happy Birthday Morgan!
Are you sure it’s four years, I remember reading about him being born and that can’t possibly be four years ago? I love how you shifted both your boys’ birthdays by one day – very clever (and they’ll never know – well until they read your blog of course …). Happy birthday big boy!!! (and little boy very soon too!)
It appears I’m big on celebrating kids birthdays on every other day other than their own. Others thing I’m terrible, especially when they call up and I ask them to call back on another day. But that’s life. I’ll get away with it whilst I can.
Wow! What a lovely post about your big nearly four year old boy! Its a good time for birthdays, mine is next week and Amy turns 5 the week after! I had no idea Muski was slow to talk, its endlessly reassuring to know that in light of my little slow-talker!
Yep. My boy didn’t even say anything that even remotely resembled ‘Mum’, not even a ‘no’ till he was well over two. Then one day he started talking in sentences and he’s never stopped. It was very hard to be patient and not to worry, but in the end it all worked out so here’s hoping your late talker will be just the same.
Beautiful, Happy Birthday Muski! And your big boy sounds a LOT like my big boy :-)
I know I love you boy xoxo
I know these last four years have flown! I remember when you were pregnant!
I know I hope he’s having a fabulous birthday today. xxx
A belated happy almost birthday gorgeous, blonde, big and little brother :)
