Things I Know About My Crazy Kids.

Posted on July 9, 2011 12 Comments

It’s holidays, all the kids are home, all the time. That is wonderful and terrible all at once and definitely crazy. Here are some things I know about my crazy kids…

They can not possibly just sit on a chair or the couch. They must all climb on it, jump on it, sit on their knees, squat, bounce, cart wheel, fall of it…..

They all have their own individual way they liked to be loved. Zoe likes her feet rubbed, Izzy likes you to draw on her back, Morgan has a thing for arms and elbows and Noey likes me hold his hand and sing Billy Joel songs.

They stand on things that are not meant to be stood on and then wonder why they break!

They have never ending enthusiasm and are quiet easily impressed. I hear the phrase ‘this is the best day ever’ at least three times a week, and I am often ‘the best mum in the whole world’… well until I am ‘the worse mum in the whole world’.

Their farts smell bad. I mean, really, really bad. What have I been feeding these children?

They are always hungry.

They eat odd un-kid-like foods like half an avocado with balsamic vinegar, tobiko sushi (the ones with the orange fish eggs on the outside) and pickled artichoke hearts. (hmmm so that’s what I’ve been feeding them!)

They fight like cats and dogs one minute and play like best buddies the next.

They make me laugh, then tear my hair out, and then laugh again.

ah yes. We are on a long holiday and I know the bounce from laugh to tearing hair and back again. They are great – just me that needs work!

actually my girls used to be great eaters… ate anything… then at about age five they went all super picky. Zoe has barely eaten a thing in the past 2 years but just recently has decided she’s starving and will eat everything again…. You can’t win really!

I’m with Izzy – I used to ask my parents constantly to draw on my back!! If one parent got a sore arm, I’d ask the other and then back again!

I’m actually getting over the lovely Billy pretty damn quickly… but it’s freaky, Noey can be screaming and refusing to sleep, turn on Billy and he’s out in minutes! Go figure!

What is it with the climbing? Especially the climbing before any sense of danger or self preservation has kicked in.
And I totally blame the artichokes :P
