What Kind of Undies do you Wear?

Posted on August 30, 2012 16 Comments

Knickers? Drawers? Undies? Panties? Jocks? Bloomers? G-strings? Bog Catchers?

undies

What do you call them and what kind do you wear?

I’ve had a long standing lover affair with a particular brand of undies, but lately they just haven’t been cutting the mustard.

I am not sure if they have changed the cut slightly, or if the quality is declining, or maybe it is just my odd shape.

I know I am not built the way clothing manufacturers think I should be.
You see, I have a big waist, but small thighs and practically no bum. I’m not so much ‘muffin top’ as ‘cake pop’ (hey at least I am right on trend!) and I’m ok with that, but it does make buying pants a little interesting… undies included.

To get them to fit snugly around my smoodgey belly, and, dare I say it, so I can tuck my ‘apron’ into them (those who’ve had kids and/or c-sections might know what I mean), I like them to come up to a decent level. So I need to buy a decent size of undies which means they have kind of a big bum space and huge leg holes. So after the first wash when things soften up a little I kind of get this flappy between the legs thing happening… It’s not very comfortable.

So I think a change of undies is in order. The question is… what kind?

So come on… I’ve shared way too much information with you, so share some with me… what kind of undies do you wear?

Granny Pants!! Since having my lil squirts.. thats what holds in all the jiggly bits..

if I am on a night out.. I wear what I call my ‘Fancy Pants’ which are knickers that go all the way up to my boobs!!! That way they hold in EVERY jiggly bit and lumps n bumps!!!

Laughing over your cake pop comment! I wear high-cuts. I’m so 80’s. Can’t stand low-cut. I like Victoria’s Secret undies. They come in cute designs.

Hehe. Thanks for the giggle! I am in love with the seamfree variety. Pretty sure they are trusty Bonds brand. They are nothing much to look at, but are functional, and wedgie free, which of course, is of utmost importance! X

I’m a Target undies girl – boy leg or g-string. I have found them to be the best value for money, good quality and very comfy !
Good luck in your endeavours to find comfy undies – not an easy task !

Love that you asked this question. I have different sort of problem. Have a waist and big bum so I’m always getting the wedgie problem. Even with boy leg knickers. I bought some Jockey high-waisted undies a while back and they’re really comfortable.

I HATE low-rise knickers cause I like the belly to be tucked in.

Best and Less home brand knickers. I have to tuck too, they last aboyt 12 months, and then I have a huge chuck and start again. 5 pair $10 cant beat them!

ha ha – I have exactly the opposite problem to you, with thunder thighs but still a semblance of a waist (although wasted with hiding the thighs and hips!)

We wear undies and knickers, but according to the 2 year old, we don’t wear panties.

This is hilarious!! I have to say I was converted by a dear friend years ago to, yes, thongs (that’s what we call them in the US). Never in my wildest dreams did I ever, ever imagine myself wearing them, but now I cannot go back. TMI???? BTW, what is a bog catcher???

Bog = Australian slang for a toilet, or what you do on a toilet
      Bog catcher = underpants

It’s boy legs and bonds for me… however, some of my undies drawer is still from high school which was 10 years ago!
I just inherited 6 new pairs of mens medium briefs as hubby bought the wrong size! There’s a touch of extra room in front but they’re actually rather comfy!! haha!!
ps. loved reading this – gave me a good chuckle!
Hope you find your perfect match! x

I wear Target black hipster briefs… and sometimes when i feel adventurous I wear pink! lol

Maybe boy leg would work for you? though I can’t stand them, always seems to give me a wedgie!

Oh and in my house they all get called ‘jocks’ but that’s what you get with a house full of boys!!!

Ugh… I’ve tried different brands and decided they’re all cheaply made. After a few months the elastic breaks and the fabric gets all stretched out. My last favorite pairs were from Target, but the material got really flimsy after a few washes. I have big thighs so I don’t like boy leg because they just squeeze the top of my legs, and I don’t like the waist of my undies AND pants cutting into my stomach, so I prefer bikini-style that aren’t too low but just cover enough to be comfortable. Still haven’t found a favorite brand. I HAVE made some of my pairs, which I really like! I plan to break out my stash of extra t-shirts and sew a couple more pairs when I get a chance.

I’m nearly 9 months pregnant, and have invested in Bonds cotton boylegs in a size bigger than I usually wear. I started with my usual size and the maternity version (lower front), but found they weren’t cutting it. Or rather, they WERE cutting… me. I found a 4 pack for cheaper in the next size up, but not maternity, and they are super comfy. The top does roll down a bit now, but I figure once I’ve had the baby, I’ll be able to tuck my ‘apron’ in there (2 previous caesareans, but my nurse husband PROMISES me it is not, in fact, an apron).

We usually call them undies in our house, knickers is not unknown, and my Canadian friend calls them panties. Bog catchers made me laugh, my grandpa used to call them that.
