My big boy has a couple of much loved toys. These are the toys that live on the end of his bed. The ones that occasionally travel to Nanny’s. These are his special toys.
He has a strict rule when it comes to naming his toys. So there can be absolutely no confusion they are named after what they are, repeated twice, just to make sure we all understand.
So there is ‘Cow Cow’, who is, obviously, a cow. And ‘Doll Doll’ who is, you guessed it, a doll.
There is also a very small, navy blue bear.
You would be forgiven for assuming that the bear would be named ‘Bear Bear’ to follow along with the aforementioned naming guidelines, but no.
The bear is called ‘Carfara Seaweed’
Yes…. Car-fa-ra Seaweed. And don’t you dare mispronounce it, that is so very offensive!
It makes me smile every time I hear good old Carfara Seaweed mentioned. Such a serious name for a small bear and such a reflection on the small boy who named him. He is practical, down to earth, matter of fact and then just when you think you have him figured out, he is quirky and surprising, but always stubborn. He keeps me on my toes and makes me remember never to take anything for granted.
This is real life in my house at the moment, care to share some of your own real life?
Yes, after a long break, some indecision, and an email or two asking me about it, the Real Life Wednesday link up is back!
The idea is that we all share a little bit of our real lives. The messy, the quirky, the boring, the funny, the difficult…. the little things that make our lives perfectly imperfect.
As always there are no hard and fast rules for this. Just blog it or play along via instagram or twitter with the hashtag #reallifewednesday (add @katepickle when you do so I can find it!). Then link up below, add a link back to this post and pop on over and say hello to some others who have linked up too. Feel free to grab the button below if you like, and don’t worry, you don’t have to post today, the linky will stay live all week.

Heh :)
Annie’s beloved lamb is “Lambie” her first doll “Dolly Dolly”.
Heidi’s bedtime pig is “Piggie” :)
We are not so imaginative with the names here.
Yay! It’s back :) Pebble chooses hilarious names at the moment, but they change from minute to minute. They are often repetitive sounds like ZaZa and Coco or silly like Foofy and Pasca. We have had some very interesting suggestions for what to name this baby!
I joined in on IG today and look forward to joining in with a post next week :)
This is a really cute post!
So glad Wednesday’s are back! I was missing them :-)
At our house we have Blue Bunny, Moosey, Zebra, Cozy Lion, Billy Bear, and then there’s the pony “Goggle Goggle” Go figure!
Carfara Seaweed is a truly fantastic name!
My little man likes to change the names of (some of) his toys and then be extremely offended when we get them wrong. One bear in particularly alternates between Jack and Tony. Jack was his original name, but Tony seemed to come out of nowhere, because I’m really sure he’s never met a Tony! (Surely there are no 3-year-olds at daycare named Tony??)
First time linking up! Excited to read all the posts. The button HTML wasn’t working for me? Is it just me? Thanks!
