Wordless Wednesday – Tree House Doll’s House.

July 6, 2011

tree house

Inspired by Childhood101 and Irresistible Ideas we made a tree house doll’s house as a gift for Morgan’s birthday.

Along with a few new Schleich boy fairies/elves our big boy declared it ‘the best present ever’… along with play dough and Lego that is!

Oh, it’s gorgeous! I already have this bookmarked from Childhood 101 (and my Dad out on his bush property collecting appropriate wood) for us to build one for our small boy. Yours is lovely!!!

Ooh I love this!!!! I’ve been contemplating making one ever since I saw Childhood 101′s. Yours has decided me! If only hubby still worked for an aborist company, he could have gotten me wood galore! Love the elves and the way you’ve decorated this with leaves :-)

I had help from my Dad and my husband who drilled and screwed on some of the bigger bits, but mostly it is all done with hot glue… fun and easy!

thanks so much for your inspiring post… I had so much fun making it and all my kids are loving it. If I can find some more of the right wood I am thinking I might make one for our local kinder too (can you tell I miss teaching kind sometimes?)

Moo has been wanting to make a dollshouse.

I am totally sending her this link.

(and yes, THAT Moo… you are never too old, or Emo)

never too old… and this is mostly put together with a hot glue gun, SO much fun to make! She should get some Schleich fairies too… they are super goth and emo looking, might even be one with blue hair!

I sent her over to have a look and she said ‘WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN’ which in Emo means ‘freaking awesome’.

She has a glue gun and is coming home next week (to go and see Harry Potter) and we just had a tree chopped down…

that’s pretty cool. Did you use nails or glue to build it?

The main upright stumps are screwed into a wooden base and the top platforms are also screwed on. The rest is done with a hot glue gun. Childhood101 did hers entirely with hot glue but our platform slices didn’t have a flat enough base for glue and my kids are pretty rough on toys so we figured screwing was safer. Mind you the hot glue glues wood to wood really well!

I bought something similar for my kindergarten classroom thinking it would be a “dollhouse” that both boys and girls would enjoy, and they surely do! I wish I would have thought about (or knew how to ) build one on my own, as it was pretty pricey to purchase. Perhaps I’ll build one now as a gift!
