Blessingway…

Posted on May 28, 2007 11 Comments

I am going to be super lazy and tell you just to go look here on Sif’s blog for photos and details from my Blessingway yesterday. I can’t possibly do a better job than Sif has of explaining our ‘hippy-la-la’ baby shower (well it’s not much like your typical baby shower but that is the easiest way of explaining it I think)

There are also some other photos and words here and various other blogs around the place thanks to all my lovely friends who came along yesterday afternoon to share yummy food and good conversation.

I can’t get over how lucky I am to have literally stumbled across this bunch of women on the net all those years back when I was pregnant with the girls. Back then I didn’t think I would ever really meet them, let alone become so close. I did take a moment yesterday to look around and think ‘wow’ all of these amazing women, all amazing in their own unique ways all here to support me… pretty bloody cool!

There were also a few ’empty chairs’ yesterday. We missed Jayne who was home sick with her little poppet (hope she is better soon!) and we missed Shae and Belinda who while they are a long way away will always be part of this circle. It was especially ace to have a few new faces join us too, mostly because if they came all the way out to my house then they must not think I am a total psycho stalker!

So there is no getting away from the fact now.. I have a lovely henna’ed belly reminding me that I only have a few more weeks to go before we are a family of five. Sure we are not really ‘ready’, which tends to freak out my mother… but the practical stuff of finding the car seat and putting the cot together is surely the easy part! The rest we will just play by ear I guess.

The girls have definitely settled on wanting a boy baby. Why? Because if it is a boy it will have a ‘willy’… and there isn’t anything much more impressive in this world at the moment than a penis. They still want to call the baby ‘Muski‘, (lucky it is a nice unisex name hey) and they have a hot list of ‘presents the baby will buy us’ which I must find some time to actually pick up at least something off that list while they are not around! So all in all they are quite happy to be getting a sibling, well happily oblivious to what it all really means!

So now we just wait and see. Wait until this baby decides my ribs are not the way out and heads downwards a bit, and wait until after the long weekend when we have no more plans or visitors… anyone want to make a guesstimate on date/time/sex LOL?

Ok Kate, as long as it doesn’t happen at the museum, I’m hoping it’s a girl on the 10th of June (my birthday) and then you haev to call her Harriet Cassandra. ;o) No pressure or anything! And a big baby too, a lovely chubber, about 9lb 5oz. Do we win the baby if we guess closest? :o)

    Cheers, Cass
