Corn Cob

“Ham bone”

“Ham Ham Ham”

“CORN COB!”

Izzy has definitely laid claim to the use of The Evil Finger of Shame and while Zoe has been known to give it a try every now and then (and with good effect too), not wanting to be outdone she has come with her own method to assert her misgivings to the world.

The Narky Word of the Moment. (NWOTM)

It started out as ‘ham bone”. Then she could be heard trotting round the house almost singing to herself ‘ham ham ham’. Now “CORN COB!” is the current NWOTM.

It is usually trotted out for much the same reasons as the EFOS, when she is mad, particularly when someone says something to her that she doesn’t want to hear. “Corn Cob!” is hurled at the offending person with as much venom as any full on swear word and if once isn’t enough it will be repeated over and over and over again.

Often Izzy comes running in tears… “Zoe said ‘corn cob’ to me”.
I always have trouble keeping a straight face on these occasions… I mean how do you tell a three year old off for saying ‘corn cob’?

  2. Thanks for the giggle. Just tonight my husband and I were discussing how amazing it will be when our girls will be able to talk. I read your story and I realize that there is so much fun ahead of us. I think I need to pick a fun word to yell out when I am mad too!

  3. Oh Joe has a whole song now it goes “naughty naughty Scarlett” and repeat over and over until either Mama says STOP or Naughty-naughty Scarlett goes over and hits him! PMSL
