Easy Art For Kids – String and Block Printing.
Some days it is all about quick and easy. It’s all about using things I have on hand, not needing to buy or collect or wait for anything.
Today it was an old idea from the my early days of teaching, and I can’t believe I’ve never done this my own kids
It’s easy, a few wooden blocks (or in our case off cuts from the renovations) with some string or wool wound around them. Some paint (with a squirt of dish washing liquid for easy clean-up) and some paper.
I think we’ll use our painting for wrapping paper!
For some more easy printing ideas how about some circle printing, printing with duplo or some sponge printing?
I love quick and easy and I love this.
Great idea. Reminds me of the old trick of cutting shapes out of the potoatoes. Must try that one too!
Awesome post! Pinned it :)
I have to get my kids to develop a gentler touch – whenever we do printing we just end up with smooshes of colour :) I love how the strings have come out clearly.
a squirt of dishwashing liquid – now that is the kind of info i need to hear about on billboards and in the newspaper – genius! beautiful result too!

My girls loved doing this sort of painting at Kinder. I keep meaning to ask, do you have any use for syringes? because we are getting quite a collection of syringes that we use to administer the girls melatonin and we really only need 2.
Duplo…why didn’t I think of that!!!!???
