Five Favourite Family Movies and Five Favourite Movie Snacks

5 Favourite Family Movies and Five Favourite Movie Snacks!

School holidays means that I don’t have to drag everyone out of bed in the mornings. It means no school lunches to make. It also means lazy afternoons, lots of Lego, a little extra Minecraft and family movie nights!

Since it’s getting freezing cold in the afternoons at the moment we’ve been scheduling movie nights early. There is at least one good thing about it getting dark so early in winter!

There is nothing better than snuggling on the couch under a pile of blankets, watching a good movie, and munching on some snacks.

Here are five of our favourite family movies…

    Fly Away Home
    Spy Kids
    Howls Moving Castle
    The SpiderWick Chronicles
    The LEGO Moive

And five of our favourite movie snacks!

Popcorn! – pop your own on the stove and it costs almost nothing, and is a lot healthier too!

Fruit Leather and Dried Fruit – We are a little addicted to drying fruit at the moment!

Crazy gooey cookie bars – not at all healthy, but a school holiday tradition at our house!

Mini Chocolate Cookies – just the right size to shove in your mouth in one go, no crumbs on the couch!

Cinnamon Cookies – you can’t eat just one… it’s impossible

What’s your favourite family movie?

Thanks for the ideas. Spykids has been ordered and the gooey cookie bar is in the oven. 8yo helped and is most impressed with the amount of treats it.

I often cook a half batch and freeze the other half for another day

Looking forward to sharing these with my two kids when they are a bit older. Do you have any family friendly movies that you recommend for younger kids? Mine are aged 5 years (boy) and 3 years (girl) and I can’t cope with re-runs of Frozen or Tinkerbell for much longer. Most of the other Disney movies scare them witless!
We regularly have popcorn, but will definitely be trying out the other yummy snacks!

My four year old LOVEs The Lorax, that might work if your kids know the book?
Trying to think of non-scary movies… my kids have always been pretty ok with the standard Disney Bad Guy Scary parts so it’s hard to think which have scary bits and which don’t. I’ll try asking on my FB page in a day or too and see if others have any great suggestions.

Thank you so much! I follow you on Facebook so if something pops up there I’ll see it.
