Great Little Books.
The girls were given these wonderful little books for Christmas…
The Midnight Adventures and Kelly, Dot and Esmerelda and Creepy Castle, both by John S Goodall.
Both books have only pictures, no words. Both have wonderful illustrations and little pages that flip over to make one picture turn into something else before you turn the big page. They are just perfect for kids like ours, kids who spend their entire lives making up and narrating little stories about everything they do.
If you happen to over hear the Twinadoes playing, you will most likely hear the endless chatter of their stories, something that sounds like this….
“….then the little dog jumped into his bed and pulled the covers up over his head and said “I never want to go there ever ever again….”
” oh how I wish I was a princess…. she said…. as she put on her princess dress….”
So it wasn’t hard for them to grasp the concept of these books and they leapt at the chance to be able to tell their own stories. We’ve ‘read’ these books over and over again in the last few weeks, and each time the story is different, often getting more and more fanciful and a tad ridiculous till we all end up collapsing into a pile of giggles.
These books came second hand and well worn but with plenty of love left in them. But I’ve googled and found them new at Amazon along with a couple of different ones that I am now very tempted to buy.
Oh they sound awesome Kate. What a delight your girlies sound.
They look like wonderful books! Thank you for sharing.
Those books look fantastic – really letting the children creat for themselves.
