Life is Messy – Real Life Wednesday

Posted on February 20, 2013 9 Comments

mess

My life is messy.

I suspect everyone’s life is messy. But we never share the mess.

We never proudly proclaim how untidy our life is in public. Magazines and TV shows never show houses where you can barely see the kitchen bench for all the stuff on it. Even my ‘Inspiration for our Home’ pinterest board is full of images of pristine rooms and neat and tidy lives.

Is it just me or would your house never measure up to these ‘clean and tidy’ expectations… not even if you spend an entire day cleaning it?

I am mostly ok with the mess that is our home and our lives, but I still feel a little uneasy about sharing it.

Do you see that photo up there? Of my beautiful new kitchen bench… covered in crap, and worse, covered in crap food that we treated our kids to while on holiday. That is a very good representation of my life, that bench is. Sometimes it is somewhat tidy, often it is pretty messy and sometimes it is covered in complete crap, but it is never completely clear and clean… because my life is messy.

Is your life messy?

The girls over at Mammabake have set up a pinterest board and hash tag – #Vivalemess to ‘bless the mess’ and make us all feel a little better about how messy our lives are!

Real Life Wednesday

Share your mess on your your blog or instagram and join in with Real Life Wednesday this week, or feel free to share anything you like, the messy, the quirky, the boring, the funny, the difficult…. the little things that make our lives perfectly imperfect.

As always there are no hard and fast rules for this. If you blog you can link up below. If you are on twitter or instagram you can share using the hash tag #reallifewednesday (add @katepickle when you do so I can find it!). You can even post a comment or share a photo on my facebook page if you like. Don’t worry, you don’t have to post or share today, you’ve got all week till the next one.

I love messy house photos. They make me feel more normal. I will probably post any of our place, though. I can always justify other people mess – young kids, more than 2 kids, etc – but instantly write mine of as laziness (probably because it is).

That should be I will probably NEVER post any of our place. And I write my messy house off as laziness.
I should proof read before I hit submit.

Great post Kate…life is messy here too which really annoys the perfectionist side of me!! I am always trying to keep my kitchen bench clear…mainly because little hands love to grab everything in their reach but also because it feels like the one little area i get to ‘control’…the humble kitchen bench does say a lot….at least you have a lovely new one to mess up, my bench is small and old so that’s my excuse and i’m sticking to it!

Pinterest is a great place to get REAL! Since it’s so often NOT!! Love it, although I don’t know if I dare to add to it…
