Little things…

Posted on April 18, 2007 6 Comments

I am sure it will be all the little things that I’ll wish I could remember down the track…

Things like… the fact that currently whenever anyone asks Izzy her name she replies with “I’m baby (insert animal here)”. Often unless I can remember which baby animal she is at any given moment and address her correctly she will not listen, let alone do what I ask. ‘Baby Rabbity‘ is popular as is ‘Baby Guinea Pig’ but today she is ‘Baby Puppy’.

Things like… Zoe who jumped on me in the swimming pool this arvo and told me “You are the best person ever!” Yay for me!

Things like … the fact that the girls are pet mad at the moment. Out of the blue (probably helped by a book we have or an episode of playschool) they decided they wanted a pet. I cautiously asked them what sort of pet they wanted and was told in no uncertain terms that Izzy wants a Guinea Pig and Zoe wants a mouse. Phew! While I don’t think they are quite ready for a pet right now, nor am I, a Guinea Pig and a Mouse are fairly reasonable requests. Could have been much worse – could have been a cat or a dog or a pony! They are thankfully quite happy to wait until they are older, though they can’t borrow enough books from the library about their chosen pet – poor Zoe was beside herself this week when we had borrowed the one and only book about pet mice and had to resort to a story! egad!

Things like .. the chook who has decided her favorite place is in a plastic crate (formerly used to collect veggies from the garden) that lives on the table next to the back door. She gets SUPER cranky if anyone puts anything in the box and spends hours trying to get whatever it is out.

Things like.. the other night Izzy fell asleep with her head on my belly. The ‘child within’ was obviously unimpressed by this and proceeded to try and kick her off. Izzy head got bumped around a lot as if to say “hey this is my spot in Mamma’s lap… get off!”.. funnily enough that is something I often hear Izzy say! Izzy didn’t wake though, or move her head (despite me getting the giggles) so I guess this child is learning early that you’ve got to fight hard for your piece of my lap.

See.. it’s the little things…

I am getting quite a chuckle out of your posts. Not sure where in the ‘world’ you are but I have no idea what a ‘Chook’ is?

Love the image of your ‘baby within’ bouncing Izzy’s little sleeping head around. Made me smile!
