Four Bubbletastic Ways to Make Bath Time Fun

My smallest child doesn’t like to wash.

He’ll do anything to get out of having a bath, and occasionally I pick my battles and let him win the war on this one. But often he’s so grimy and stinky that he just has to wash. And when I say wash, I don’t mean dipping half of his body into the water for 7 seconds! I mean wash, with soap, for an appropriate length of time!

Rather than listen to the whining and complaining about how horrible it is that I am forcing him to be clean, I tend to go with a plan of distraction. Make washing so much fun he doesn’t even notice he is getting clean.

Over the years I’ve come up with all kinds of crazy, cool and clever ideas to make bath time fun and a sure fire winner is bubbles.

Four bubbletastic ways to make bath time fun

Try one of these bubbletastic ways to make bath time fun!

Crazy Bubbles

By far the quickest and easiest way to get a stinky kid into the bath is to add bubbles. A squirt of ecostore kids’ bubble bath goes a long way and fills the tub with fluffy bubbles without any nasty chemicals. If plain old white bubbles are boring, add a little natural food colouring or liquid watercolours to a squirt bottle of water and spray paint them!

Frozen Soap Melts

A fun way to get my filthy kid to wash with soap is to make some frozen soap melts. I just add a little water, natural food colouring and a squirt of ecostore kids’ bubble bath into ice cube trays and freeze. When you pop them into a warm bath they melt their colours into the water and as the kids play with them they are getting clean without noticing it!

Bubble Snakes

You could blow bubbles with your hands (link) or you could blow bubble snakes! To make a bubble snake blower just cut the end off a plastic bottle and secure a piece of towel or flannel over the end with an elastic band. Dip the fabric end into a mixture of watered down ecostore kids’ bubble bath and blow.

Bubble Dough.

Play dough that you can put in the bath? Cool!
This recipe for soap dough is quick and easy to make and lots of fun to play with, or to use in place of soap.

1/4 cup ecostore kids’ bubble bath
1 tsp oil
natural food colouring
1/2 – 3/4 cups corn flour (corn starch)

Mix together the bubble bath, oil and colouring.
Add 1/2 cup corn flour and mix well, kneading with your hands and adding a little more corn flour if needed.

We love ecostore kids’ bubble bath because it makes greats bubbles, plus it contains plant and mineral based ingredients, and no nasty chemicals or synthetic fragrances so it’s gentler on kid’s skin. I love that they list all the ingredients on the label so you can make an informed choice, which is great if you have kids with sensitive skin like I do.

Ecostore products are also better for the environment, cruelty free, and child labour free. So not only do we love them because they are fun and safe for us, but it’s nice to know we are doing a little bit of good for the world too.
