My Eyes are Bigger than My Stomach

My eyes are bigger than my stomach… Not in relation to food, oh no there is never enough food in my world at the moment! In relation to my week and everything I have needed to accomplish this week! I am struck with that feeling that I have bitten off more than I can chew – ack there goes the food analogies again, I really do have food on the brain… but anyway back to the subject at hand!

I still trying desperately to catch up on the week that disappeared into hospital and then the week that followed when I was without my computer and for some reason I thought this week would be the time to do all those things I still needed to do from back then, plus a whole heap more that have popped up in the mean time… but miraculously this week we seem to have something on every day and time to spend doing house stuff, little projects or sitting in front of the PC working has just evaporated before my eyes. Hence the severe lack of blogging!

It has been a good week though, busy but good. Monday we shopped – we all do the grocery shopping together. Yep, all five of us. The Baldy Boy won’t let me go on my own because I won’t get him the snacks he likes for work. I won’t let him go on his own as he never gets the right things I need to make meals and he stocks up on way too many snacks. So that means the ‘triblets‘ (as my children have now been christened by the gorgeous Miss A – because if you start off with twins and then have one more that must make ‘triblets!’) get to come along too. Of course that means the trip is filled with tears, giggles, the odd screaming tantrum, two trolleys, a baby in a sling, a whole lot of items you never intended to buy but when they ask so nicely how can you say no and it takes most of the day! Thank goodness we only do it once a month!

Tuesday was family day… also known as ‘put more kms on the lease car day’, and we headed out to the fairy park at Anakie. The girls were mesmerised and terrified both in about equal proportions! The place is so kitsch and tacky it is awesome, and we knew the girls would love all the little houses and fairies in the gardens and things like that. For the most part they liked the fairy take stories played out with really bad animated figurines and accompanying voice overs but just about every fairy story has a ‘scary part’ some of which really terrified the girls! I can’t blame them… I never realised how many fairy stories have a really dodgey part were some bad person tries to entice little children (or little pigs!) with lollies or bribes! But on the whole it was very well received by the girls, especially the park, which really was pretty cool with an awesome castle to climb in, a dungeon, and loads of concrete statues to climb all over. All in all a very nice day.

Looking in the window of Cinderella’s castle, that she shared with Rumpelstiltskin and Puss in Boots!

Hansel and Gretel in the Witches house – see, another one ‘come in little girl and I will give you sweeties!’ … creepy stuff!

Wednesday was supposed to be party-plan day by our lovely hosts were unwell so I have had to put off my flash plastic purchase until next week, hopefully. Instead a ‘quick trip to highpoint’ turned into an all day affair while I dragged the three kids from shop to shop trying on pants. Why is it that all pants are designed for people with small waists and big bums? I know I am a weird shape, and even weirder since Muski was born in that I have broad shoulders a nice fat belly but no bum and skinny legs…. but gees you’d think there would be at least one decent pair of pants that would fit me… but no! I think I may just go naked to the christening on Saturday!

Today we vacuumed and mopped and tidied up… considering my grand plan to do major one house job a day fell in a heap the first week I made it this was long overdue so thank goodness we had impending visitors to motivate us! Then we made pizza to share for lunch with our good friends. We fed the carrots some horses and generally had a great time playing all afternoon….

Tomorrow is a day of rest… well ok, not really. Tomorrow is the day I try to cram in all the computer stuff I haven’t done this week into one day! The pickleberrypop lolly bags are all over and done with (if anyone bought mine I hope you enjoyed it!) and I had planned to have some things finished so that the lolly bag items could go into the store along with some new matching things… but so far I haven’t managed to finish any of the matching bits! Maybe if I really knuckle down tomorrow, if the girls are good to me and if Muski sleeps a bit I just might be able to get some things finished and ready to upload Saturday arvo… but I am not holding my breath!

Saturday we are all getting into our glad rags (except me because I don’t have any that fit!) and heading over to a Christening. We’d like to be organised enough to go and see some cars beforehand – we are looking at a Renault Scenic Grand, as well as an Odyssey and maybe a Tarago, anyone got an opinion on buying any of these second hand? But I doubt we will manage to cars as well as a stopover at my parents to feed the children before to service… but ah I can dream!

Ah poop.,.. I wanted to add photos but Muski is awake and the girls are naked and not even looking like packing up and it is about ten minutes till dinner so I don’t think that will happen… see what I mean about biting off more than I can chew???

ETA – ok photos added now, you can see a few more here on flickr

  1. Sounds like a very busy time! How do you shop for a family of 5 only once a month?! We can last 2 weeks if we try (we usually shop once a week) and there’s only 2 of us, but I don’t think we’d have enough storage space to do it any less regularly than that anyway.

    Love the photos too! :-)

  2. Ah Jo and Dee win the prize for finding the glaring error in this post…. carrots and horses.. interchangeable if you ask me!
