The Gift of Caring

Posted on June 16, 2017 1 Comment

From caring comes courage - the gift of caring

My twins have a friend, a best friend, and I am so thankful for that friend.

Not just because of all the wonderful things she gives to my girls (her understanding, her loyalty, her laughter), but because of all the wonderful things my girls get to give to her.

Over the last few weeks I’ve watched my girls love their friend as she goes through a big challenge.

I’ve watched them collect things she loves, make stress balls, and wrap funny little gifts to make her smile.

I’ve watched them sit around her hospital bed and laugh together.

I’ve heard them declare that a week is entirely too long to go without visiting this amazing person.

I’ve seen them worry for her, and I’ve heard them whisper wishes that she will be back on her feet soon, and able to do all the things she wants to do.

As I watch my girls care for their friend, I realise how much of a gift that is.

It is such a special thing to have someone to care about.
I am so thankful that my girls get to experience it.
