Today is the Day…
Today is the day when I will finally clean out under my bed.
Today is the day that I will put away every last piece of clean washing.
Today is the day that I will bake something delicious.
Today is the day that I will not yell at my kids, not even a little bit.
Today is the day that I will pull the weeds and plant something.
Today is the day when I will paint, draw, sew or create.
Today is the day when I will rest when the baby rests.
Today is the day that dinner will be cooked by lunch time.
Today is the day that all snacks will be healthy and delicious.
Today is the day that I will spend time, alone, with my husband.
Today was not that day.
Instead…
Today was the day that things happened, good, bad and indifferent.
Today was the day that some things got done, some things went to plan, and many others did not.
Today was a day that I did not measure my worth by the ticking of a To Do List.
Today was just a day like any other, and there will be another one, just as good, tomorrow.
Love this! It was my day too. As most are. And it’s all good :)
This is my first time to your blog and this is a fantastic post. Damn straight today is a day.
Love this.
Sounds just like my everyday :)
Thanks Kate. Being first day of school holidays I had so much planned. First part of the day chocka, and then after lunch decided to delete the ‘to-do’ list, and just lazed with the boys. Playing tag, a chocolate milk tea party in the fort, and we were shocked to find our carrot seeds had turned into…carrots!
Thanks.
I think we all as mother’s need a copy of this on our fridge.
Is that a pic from your place? love it.
xx
yes that is the view from my kitchen window… across out veggie patch… ahem.. I mean garden of neck high weeds, and out towards the mountain. Though you can’t see the mountain at the moment because of the rain and clouds.
Oh man, that is one ambitious Today! I also give myself lists like that, but today really is the day I will FULLY CLEAN the bloody kitchen LOL
maybe :)
So perfectly written.
Lovely poem, I was beginning to wonder if it was far fetched, glad you changed tack. There’s no such thing as a perfect day.
