My twins turned ten last week. Ten.
I keep trying to let that fact sink in, but somehow my brain just doesn’t want to accept it. How can it be ten years since they were born? How can I have survived ten years as a mother?
Not only have I survived ten years as a mother I also survived the birthday party!!
On the weekend fifteen girls and one very brave boy arrived at our house for a ‘Dance Party!’.
We decked out our family room like a disco, we put wii dance on the big (well ok not really that big) screen and turned up the volume!
The kids danced, got temporary tattoos, rock star makeup and coloured hair spray. We even played a few games – Rock Star Salad (like fruit salad but with rock star names), create a dance party outfit out of newspaper, tape and streamers, and Daggy Dancing (like Captains Coming but with daggy dance moves like ‘chicken dance’ ‘drive the car’ etc).
It was LOUD but a lot of fun.
To end the proceedings we had a doughnut stack cake – the worlds easiest cake, just make a sack of doughnuts and put candles on the top!
This time we did things a little differently and used plain doughnuts and then let the kids decorate them. We had kids with multiple allergies and a lovely friend made some awesome gluten free, egg free, dairy free, soy free and nut free doughnuts, and with some allergy friendly sprinkles and icing everyone could join in!
And to make then a little more ‘dance party’ I made some cupcake… er.. doughnut flags for decoration!
If you want to throw your own dance party you can download the cupcake flags here.
And now that the party is over I guess I had better start thinking about Christmas!!! Arrgh! This time of year is so busy!!

Gorgeous printables Kate and the party idea sounds great, how did that one lone boy go? Very brave indeed (assuming 10 is not yet an age where boys are thinking it’s great to be alone with 15 girls??? I hope not!).

Ok these are just excellent! Sooo brings me back to MY youth and my OWN tenth birthday party– it was almost the same, without the wii and the big screen tv. We had the 80’s hair make up neon streamer hair dos actually and a “record player” ! Imagine! Awesome! Thanks for sharing these. My youngest is just like me & loves music singing n dancing, her fifth is coming soon!
