Best Mum Ever!
As I put Noah to bed tonight he hugged me and whispered in my ear…
“You’re the best Mum ever!”
I don’t often feel like ‘the best mum ever’, but I did then, in that moment, with his cheek smushed up against mine.
And it made me think about other good things that have happened this week, other moments when I might just have been the best mum ever, or at least a pretty good one…
When I made a heap of homemade stuffing for the roast chicken.
When I let him snuggle in my bed and be silly when he couldn’t fall asleep.
When I read a chapter of the new Mapmaker Chronicles each night.
When I turned up the music super loud in the car.
When I joined them outside for a ride, scoot and skate.
When I made pancakes for afternoon tea.
When I built a cubby house from blankets and chairs.
When I spent ten minutes putting cool songs on his iPod.
When I discovered by accident that the musical Cats was coming back and organised tickets for my girls.
When I remembered to ask the right question at the right moment.
When I found the missing puzzle piece.
When the weeks feel long and difficult it is easy to forget the good moments, the moments when I might just be the best mum ever.
What have you done this week that makes you the best parent ever?
I love this. What a beautiful list and fantastic exercise. I want to start. We all seem to stuck in our shortcomings that we sometimes miss the most wonderful. Lovely (especially — the scootering — don’t you just love it when you take those moments! :-) )
