If you are using extra large cupcake liners or you are working with older kids you can fold your cupcake liner in half a third time to make an even smaller wedge! But for beginners and younger children two folds is easy enough to cut through and will make a fun design.

Now it’s time to start snipping!

Use your scissors to cut your snowflake any way you like! Use the following ideas for a guide and experiment to see how each cut turns out when you open your snowflake!

You can cut a pattern or notches along the outer, circular edge of the wedge to make a patterned outer edge of your snowflake. A zigzag or rounded scallops often work well here.

You can cut a tiny shape out of the pointy centre of the wedge to make a hole in the middle of your snowflake.

You can cut notches in all different shapes and sizes along the edges/sides of the wedge to make interesting repeating patterns in your snowflake. Experiment with cutting semi circles, triangles, squares or even half hearts to see how they turn out!
