These tiny printable hats and accessories combined with funny hand drawn eggy faces will turn boring eggs into fabulous Easter egg people!
My kids love decorating eggs for Easter. We’ve dyed eggs, painted them, collaged them, drip dyed them, and more. But this year I wanted something a little less messy, something nice and easy easy, and something that was lots of fun, so we made some Easter egg people.
Making these Easter egg people is a super easy, low mess, Easter craft that is perfect if you have a group of kids with various ages and skills. Everyone can have a go and make a funny Easter egg person or two.
You could simply draw some funny faces on your eggs, but to add a little more fun my kids and I cam up with some ideas and I designed some adorable little egg -sized hats and some extra accessories too.

Make Some Easy Easter Egg People.
You only need a handful of craft supplies to make these cute egg people, and of course, some eggs!
To make your own Easter egg people you’ll need:
- Eggs – hard boiled or blown.
- Permanent markers
- An egg carton
- Easter egg hat printables (see below to download the free printable)
- Scissors
- Markers or coloured pencils
- Glue
- Something to cover your work surface
Our eggs are from our backyard chickens so they are possibly a little larger (and more oddly shaped and coloured) than regular supermarket eggs, but you can use any shape, colour or size of eggs that you like.
If you want to keep your egg people long term, then it’s best to blow your eggs. But if you are working with younger kids, then hard boiled eggs are a little more smash resistant and easier for little hands to manage. You can even leave your eggs raw and just crack your people into your next omelette if you don’t want to waste them!
We cut up some egg cartons to make little stands for our egg people so they didn’t roll away while we were working on them. An egg cup would work just as well for this, but make sure you don’t get any permanent marker on it!
To keep it really simple you can just use the permanent markers to draw faces, hair and outfits on your eggs, or you can add some of our free printable hats and extras! You can choose from either the full colour Easter egg hats, or the black and white version ready for your to colour in.
If you are using the black and white hats then add some colour and fancy designs, then cut out your hats and assemble them. The pirate hat just needs a little glue on each side to hold the front and back together. The rest of the hats can be adjusted to fit the size of your eggs as needed.
Then with the hat on your egg, use the permanent markers to add a face and other features. Don’t forget to glue on some of the printable extras, every chef needs a moustache and every king needs some sunglasses!
Now you can display your clown, bunny, pirate, king (or queen), and chef Easter egg people!
Or design your own Easter egg people like this colourful chef, Napoleon, the creepiest clown a 6 year old has ever made, and a king with a multicolour magical moustache!
