In the middle of a deep, dark, forest full of tall fir trees, is a hidden clearing. If you happen to come across this clearing, and if you are quiet and still, you might be lucky enough to see who lives there.
You might be lucky enough to meet some forest gnomes!
Perhaps they are christmas gnomes, on their way to help Santa deliver the presents?
Or perhaps the gnomes are busy decorating the forest for a party?
Perhaps they are friendly gnomes?
Or perhaps they are a little mischievous, like the little guy in the red and green hat?
Our cute little forest gnomes were made by my Dad from off cuts of wood. We had lots of fun painting their hats and designing their faces.
We used acrylic paints, but water colours and regular liquitemp kids paint also work just fine to paint on wood. And we used a regular pencil to draw their faces so we could rub it off if we made a mistake!
Perhaps someone else will live in your forest?
Our free printable forest playset is perfect for all kinds of imaginative play. It includes a back drop and some extra trees and grass.
You will need to print the three pages of the back drop onto sturdy paper or card. Then cut out the side wings and fold the tabs forward. Tape or glue the side wing tabs to the main piece and your city-scape will stand up making a fun backdrop for a range of imaginative play ideas. Cut out the extra trees and fold them in half so they stand up, and cut out the grass and fold the ends it so it stands up too.
This printable is an A4 sized pdf file, you will need a pdf reader such as adobe acrobat to open it. If you are printing on US ‘letter sized’ paper be sure to select ‘fit’ or ‘shrink to fit’ from your printer options.
