How Do You Play? Playful Learning’s World Tour

Posted on August 8, 2013 9 Comments

“G’day” – We don’t actually say that, we usually just say “Hi”

Our names are Zoe, Izzy, Morgan and Noah and we are taking over our Mum’s blog today to join in with the Playfultour!

How do you play? - Playful Learning's World Tour

We live at the bottom of Australia, kind of close to Melbourne, but not very close. We have a big veggie garden and paddocks (fields) and lots of room to play at our house.

It is winter where we live right now and it has been very cold this year. There has been snow on the mountain near where we live but not at our house. Sometimes it is very frosty here and we have frozen puddles. It has also been raining a lot and it is very muddy outside!

Izzy and Zoe are nine (almost ten, and yes we are twins) and they are in Grade three at school. Morgan is six and he is in ‘prep’ (which is what we call the first year of school) and Noah is three.

Morgan: I like to build Lego and play soccer outside if it is not raining. I also like to look for frogs in the puddles and near the dam.

Izzy: I like to dance and climb trees. This week we have been building a cubby house (fort) from a big branch that feel from a tree during a big storm we had.

Noah: I like to paint and build with blocks and collect things like leaves and gum nuts.

Zoe: I like to draw and write stories. It was raining on the weekend so we watched some of the Starting A Writer’s Notebook eLesson videos (affiliate link) and started some new journals (Mum will blog more about the journals soon).

Our school year starts in February and finishes in December. It is divided into four terms and we get two weeks holidays between each term and five weeks summer holidays at Christmas time. Right now it is the middle of the school year for us so we mostly get time to play at lunch time, after school and on the weekends.

We live about 40 minutes away from Brisbane in Queensland. We have three acres, a dam, a river behind our house, trees to climb and lots of space to run.

Jemiah (5) loves climbing trees, riding her scooter and drawing.

Judah (4) loves playing with toys, animals and his ninja turtle figurines are the favorite at the moment.

Tillie (2) also loves toys, running and riding her bike!!

We have a dam too… but it usually only has water in it when it is freezing cold. But maybe with all the rain this winter we’ll still have water in the dam come summer!
