How to Play Count the Clouds Rainbow Counting Game
The count the clouds game is played with the bright and colourful rainbow mat with the big puffy clouds!
You can cut out the small cloud counters provided, or use cotton balls or pom poms for a fun sensory element.
Tip: if you are using cotton balls or pom poms try adding some large tweezers to work on fine motor skills too!
Now just grab a dice and you are ready to play.
Roll the dice to find out how many clouds/puffs to add to the clouds on your rainbow, then count out the clouds/puffs and pop them in the big clouds. How many puffs are on your cloud?
To play the more challenging cloud addition game print out the rainbow mat with the big puffy clouds and the space for writing the equation at the top. You’ll need two dice to play this addition game.
Roll both dice and put one in each circle to make an addition sum. Encourage your child to put the number of puffs shown on each dice onto the clouds and then count all the clouds together to get the answer. Or you can count the dots on the dice to get the answer and put the total number of puffs on the clouds. There is also a space to write the answer if you wish.
This is a great hands on way for older children to work on addition too. They may be able to do the sum in their heads, and then they can count out the puffs onto the clouds to check they are correct.

Hi Kate, Adore your intro! Your printables are unique and truly thank you for giving us these treats for free despite the care, time, effort and thought you place in each one. Also hugs for teaching me some new things. I could never figure out that word subitising, it was what i was trying to incorporate but never knew the name of the action was until today. In return I am super happy to help pull weeds for you anytime.
